12、N ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULINTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 This outline provides the procedure and requirements for certification of a building, or specifiedportion of a building under the UL Environment program for Building Indoor Air Quality (BIAQ). This outlineaddresses certification for n
13、on-residential buildings.1.2 This outline recognizes the issues surrounding Legionella in the built environment. Due to differinglegal restrictions and licensure requirements, the microbial content and colonization of Legionella arebeyond the scope of this outline. It is the responsibility of the bu
14、ilding owner and/or operator to assurecompliance with all regulations applicable within the jurisdiction. If there is no regulation within thejurisdiction, then a written policy pertaining to Legionella shall be required as a criterion for certification.1.3 This outline recognizes the issues surroun
15、ding lead paint and asbestos in the built environment. Dueto differing legal restrictions and licensure requirements, these materials are beyond the scope of thisCertification. It is the responsibility of the building owner and/or operator to assure compliance with allregulations applicable within t
16、he jurisdiction. If there is no regulation within the jurisdiction, then a writtenpolicy pertaining to lead and asbestos shall be required as a criterion for certification.1.4 These requirements provide a review of basic information about the building, conducts an initialassessment of the status of
17、the building as related to Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), and initiates ongoingperiodic assessments of building conditions that relate to IAQ. The focus of the reviews and assessmentsis on the quality of the indoor air. The program recognizes however that satisfactory IAQ requires theproper and integrate
18、d functioning of multiple aspects of the building systems, such as the design of theenclosure (building envelope) which can change over time. In addition, the program provides reasonablemeasures to detect recognized and common sources of IAQ problems where they occur. Not detectingrecognized and com
19、mon sources of IAQ problems is not however a guarantee of satisfactory IAQ.1.5 Either an entire building or a portion of a building may be certified under these requirements. Abuilding certification may include the design phase of the building as well as the construction phase andoccupancy period, o
20、r the certification may apply to only the occupancy phase. 22、l form fromwater vapor in the air.2.4 ASSESSMENT The multicomponent process of evaluating a building interior for Indoor Air Quality(IAQ).2.5 BUILDING ENCLOSURE (OR ENVELOPE) Materials, components and assemblies that separatethe interior of a building from the external environment (collectively the
23、walls, roof, and bottom of abuilding).2.6 CERTIFIED BUILDING Refers to either an entire building or the portion of the building that isincluded within the scope of assessment and certification.2.7 COUNT CONCENTRATION (PM) The number of particles per volume of air (#/cm3or #/m3).2.8 DEW POINT See AIR
24、 TEMPERATURE (DEW POINT).2.9 INDOOR AIR QUALITY (IAQ) The quality of air in building interiors. IAQ is generally deemedacceptable if air pollutants are absent or the concentrations of pollutants are too low to causedissatisfaction or discomfort.
