8、nlight resistant, 60, 90, 150, 300 or600 V radio head cable rated 60, 75, or 90C dry, and 60, 75, or 90C wet for supplying power, data, andsignal from a base station to remote radio heads on a tower or rooftop.2 Units of Measurement2.1 Values stated without parentheses are the requirement. 10、ted in the inch/pound units that are customary in the USA, each of therequirements in this outline are also stated in units that make the requirement conveniently useable incountries employing the various metric systems (practical SI and customary). Equivalent although, notnecessarily exactly identi

11、cal results are to be expected from applying a requirement in USA or metricterms. Equipment calibrated in metric units is to be used when a requirement is applied in metric terms.4.2 Only materials that meet the intent of the requirement for the particular use shall be employed in awire. Wires shall

12、 be made and finished with the degree of uniformity and grade of workmanship that arepracticable in a well-equipped factory.4.3 Each material used in a wire shall be compatible with all of the other materials used in the wire.5 Conductors5.1 General5.1.1 Only stranded conductors of tinned or uncoate

13、d copper shall be used in a cable. Individualconductor strands shall consist of materials complying with the Standard Specification for Soft orAnnealed Copper Wire, ASTM B3 or the Standard Specification for Tin-Coated Soft or Annealed CopperWire for Electrical Purposes, ASTM B33.OCTOBER 29, 2014UL 2

Conductorsshall comply with the following standards:a) Standard Specification f

17、G copper conductor shall comply with the requirements for stranded fixture wireconductors in the Standard for Fixture Wire, UL 66. All other conductors shall comply with therequirements in the Standard for Thermoplastic-Insulated Wires and Cables, UL 83. Alternatively, aninsulated conductor pair may

18、 consist of an individually insulated conductor with an additional insulated,concentrically, helically distributed conductor over the inner conductor insulation. The length of lay ofstrands of this helically distributed conductor shall not exceed 17.5 times the diameter measured over theconcentric c

19、onductor. A longer length of lay shall be allowed provided the tag is marked as shown in11.1(l).5.2.3 The direct-current resistance of every conductor including any concentric conductor shall complywith the requirements in the Standard for Thermoplastic-Insulated Wires and Cables, UL 83 except thatt

20、he direct-current resistance of an 18 or 16 AWG conductor shall comply with the requirements in theStandard for Machine-Tool Wires and Cables, UL 1063.6 Insulation and Jacket6.1 Cable rated 90C The insulation and individual nylon jacket shall comply with the thickness andother requirements for Type

21、THW-2, THHW, THWN-2 or THHN/THWN as specified in the Standard forThermoplastic-Insulated Wires and Cables, UL 83. An 18 or 16 AWG conductor has the same thicknessas a 14 AWG.6.2 Cable rated 75C The insulation and individual jacket shall comply with the thickness and otherrequirements for Type THW, T

22、HWN, THW-2, THHW, THWN-2, or THHN/THWN as specified in theStandard for Thermoplastic-Insulated Wires and Cables, UL 83. 23、ION FROM UL6.3 Cable rated 60C The insulation and individual jacket shall comply with the thickness and otherrequirements for Type TW, THW, THWN, THW-2, THHW, THWN-2, or THHN/THWN, as specified in theStandard for Thermoplastic-Insulated Wires and Cables, UL 83. An 18 or 16 AWG conductor has thesame

24、thickness as a 14 AWG.6.4 An insulation or jacket that is of a material generically different from those specified for Type TW,THW, THWN, THW-2, THHW, THWN-2, or THHN/THWN (new material), or that is a material specified forTW, THW, THWN, THW-2, THHW, THWN-2, or THHN/THWN but that does not comply wit

25、h the thicknessor short-term physical properties tests for Type TW, THW, THWN, THW-2, THHW, THWN-2, orTHHN/THWN insulation or jacket, shall be evaluated for the requested temperature rating and/orthickness as described in the Dry temperature rating of new materials (long-term aging test), in theStan

26、dard for Wire and Cable Test Methods, UL 2556. Investigation of the electrical, mechanical, andphysical characteristics of the wire using the material shall show the material to be comparable inperformance to the TW, THW, THWN, THW-2, THHW, THWN-2, or THHN/THWN insulation or jacket. Theinvestigation

27、 shall include tests such as crushing, impact, abrasion, deformation, heat shock, insulationresistance, and dielectric voltage withstand.7 Assembly7.1 Optical-fiber member(s) and circuit conductors7.1.1 The conductors of the cable shall consist of individual single conductors, groups of singleconduc

28、tors or conductor pairs with each pair consisting of an individual insulated conductor over whichconcentrically, helically distributed conductor strands are applied. Each of the individual conductors orhelically distributed insulated pairs of conductors may employ a nylon jacket. Fiber optic members

29、, fillers,binders, one or more shields or armor may also be employed. An overall jacket is required only on cableswithout an armor.7.1.2 Optical-fiber member(s) alone shall not constitute a cable. One or more optical-fiber members maybe included in a round or flat cable. Optical-fiber members may be

30、 grouped with or without electricalconductors. Optical-fiber members in a cable shall be cabled alone or as a group with the same directionand with the same length of lay as the electrical conductors. In the performance of the cable, eachoptical-fiber member is to be considered as a filler. A group

31、of optical-fiber members without any electricalconductor(s) in it may include one or more non-current-carrying metal parts (earth-grounded or interruptedwhen the hybrid cable is installed) such as a metal strength element or a metal vapor barrier. Theconstruction of these parts is not specified.7.1.

32、3 All circuit conductors shall have the same voltage rating. Insulated conductors with differenttemperature ratings may be mixed in a given cable if the cable is rated for the lowest temperature ratingof any of the constituent insulated conductors.7.1.4 Two or more of the insulated conductors shall

33、be assembled in a cable. Sizes may be mixed. Acable may contain precabled groups of conductors as described in 7.1.6.7.1.5 In a cable with two, three, or four individual circuit conductors or one or two concentric pairs ofconductors, the conductors may be cabled or laid parallel (flat cable).OCTOBER

35、7.1. Grouping of the circuitconductors into pairs, triads, quads, and other precabled subassemblies is not required but is acceptableif the length of lay of the conductors in each group and of the groups in the overall assembly comply withthis requirement and with Table 7.1. The direction of lay may

36、 be changed at intervals throughout thelength of the cable. The intervals are not required to be uniform. In a cable in which the lay is reversedshall be in accordance with the following:a) Each area in which the lay is right- or left-hand for not less than five complete twists (full 360degree cycle

37、s) shall have the insulated conductors or precabled groups of insulated conductorscabled with a length of lay that is not greater than indicated in Table 7.1; andb) The length of each lay-transition zone (oscillated section) between these areas of right- andleft-hand lay shall not exceed 1.8 times t

38、he maximum length of lay indicated in Table 7.1. If thedirection of lay is not reversed in a cable containing layers of conductors or groups, thedirection of lay of successive layers is not specified but the outer layer shall have a left-hand layas defined in 7.1.7. If the direction of lay is not re

39、versed in a single-layer cable, the conductorsor groups shall have a left-hand lay. 43、d to make the finished cablefirm at all points. Fillers shall be provided in a cable that is intended to be round if they are needed to makethe finished cable round. In a round cable, fillers shall be cabled with the conductors or, if applicable tothe construction, may be in the center of the cable.

44、 Fillers may be integral with or separate from any binderjacket or the overall cable jacket. If fillers are integral with a jacket, they and the jacket shall be readilyseparable from the underlying cable assembly. Fillers shall be of nonconductive nonmetallic material.7.3 Binders7.3.1 The entire cab

45、le assembly, or any number of conductors (with or without one or more optical-fibermembers included in the group), or several such groups within the cable may be enclosed in a binderconsisting of a shield (see 7.4) or of a braid, tape, or other unspecified means. An individual group orseveral groups

46、 may be enclosed in a thin binder jacket that is of the same temperature rating as theoverall cable jacket. The thicknesses of a binder jacket (extruded binder) shall not be less than indicatedin Table 7.2 when measured as described in 7.3.2 and 7.3.3.Table 7.2Thickness of binder jacketCalculated di

49、 diameter over the finished jacket, subtracting from it the diameter ofthe assembly under the jacket, and dividing the result by 2. The diameters over and under the jacket areto be determined by means of a diameter tape capable of making measurements to at least 0.01 inch or0.1 mm with estimates to 0.005 inch or 0.05 mm. The average thickness of the jacket is acceptable if thevalue determined from the diameter-tape measurements equals or exceeds the average indicated in thetable.
