Introduction1.1 ScopeFOCIS 12 presents the intermateability standard for connectors with the commercial designation ofMT-RJ, and is used as
13、 an addendum to TIA/EIA-604, Fiber Optic Connector IntermateabilityStandards. The provisions of TIA/EIA-604 apply to this document.1.2 ObjectiveIntermateability standards define the minimum physical attributes of mating connector components.Fully dimensioned components are not within the scope or in
14、tent of FOCIS 12.The requirements of FOCIS 12 have been selected with the objectives of ensuring that a specifiedcombination of connector assemblies conforming to the requirements of FOCIS 12 will mechanicallyintermate, and that intermated connector assemblies will meet their common level of perform
15、ance.1.3 LimitationsRealization of the objectives of FOCIS 12 may be limited by the following considerations:1.3.1 Configuration OptionsThere are configuration options in FOCIS 12 that impose limitations on the combinations of plugs thatshould be combined in a connector assembly. Both plugs should h
16、ave the same number of fibers, option n. Both plugs should have the same alignment pin variant, option t. The alignment pin in the cavity provides the alignment therefore all assemblies should have apinned variant in one half, option c = 1 and a cavity variant in the other, option c = 2.1.3.2 Common
17、 Performance The location of optical cores as shown in Figure 3.2.3 are defined without tolerances by their truepositions. To apply common performance, the distributions of the position of the fiber cores asshown in Figure 3.2.3, should be centered on the true positions. Common performance does not
18、account for intrinsic loss between the fibers being joined; seeTIA/EIA-604, Section 6.1.3.3 ResolutionCases of combinations of plugs and adapters where mechanical intermateability or the common levelof performance is not achieved should be resolved through the cooperation of the user and theconnecto
19、r and adapter manufacturer(s).1.4 Drawing practicesTo be in compliance with ANSI and ISO Engineering Drawing Practices, the following shall apply:1. Where a tolerance of form is not specified, the limits of the dimensions for a feature control theform as well as the size. The combined effects of siz
20、e and form variations may not exceed theenvelope of perfect form at the maximum material condition (MMC).2. Where interrelated features of size (features shown with a common axis or center plane) have nogeometric tolerance of location or runout specified the limits of the dimensions for a feature co
21、ntrolthe location tolerance as well as the size. When the interrelated features are at the MMC, theyshall be perfectly located to each other as indicated by the drawing.3. Where perpendicular features (features shown at right angles) have no geometric tolerance,orientation, or runout specified, the
22、limits of the dimensions for a feature control the orientationtolerance as well as the size. When perpendicular features are at the MMC, they shall be perfectlyoriented to each other as indicated by the drawing.4. As the size of a feature departs from the MMC, variations in form, location and orient
