6、n: This coating has been used typically to reduce the intensity of reflection from the surfaces of instrument glasses and to increase light transmission through the glasses, but usage is not limited to such applications.2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: 3.1 Material: The composition of the coating material shall be optional with the coating vendor.3.2 Properties of the Applied Coat
12、ings: The coating, applied to substrate materials having indices of refraction within the range 1.47 to 1.55, shall conform to the following requirements. Tests shall be performed on the coated parts or on coated glass witness specimens of the same index of refraction and surface finish as the subst
13、rate for the coated parts, coated in the same evaporation run as the parts, and positioned in the chamber so as to represent the optical and durability characteristics of the parts.3.2.1 Spectral Properties: 3.2.1.1 Specular Reflectance: The specular reflectance from each coated surface, measured wi
14、th a calibrated spectrophotometer as defined in ASTM D 1003, shall not exceed the following limits for energy incident on the surface at the angles shown in Table 1.SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS2521C Page 3 of 8 3.2.1.2 Light Absorption: Within the wavelength range 425 to 700 millimicrons (nm), light loss s
15、hall not exceed the limits per surface shown in Table 2, determined with a calibrated spectrophotometer as defined in ASTM D 1003:3.2.2 Durability: The coating, subjected to the adhesion test of 4.5.1 followed by the abrasion resistance test of 4.5.2, shall show no evidence of peeling, flaking, crac
16、king, crazing, or delamination and shall have no change in spectral characteristics resulting in nonconformance to the requirements of 3.2.1.3.2.3 Environmental Resistance: The coating shall show no change in spectral characteristics resulting in nonconformance to the requirements of 3.2.1 after exp
17、osure to any of the following:3.2.3.1 Elevated temperature in accordance with 4.5.3.3.2.3.2 Sand and dust in accordance with 4.5.4.3.2.3.3 Fungus in accordance with 4.5.5.3.2.3.4 Thermal shock in accordance with 4.5.6.3.2.3.5 Continuous exposure to salt spray in accordance with ASTM B 117 for not le
18、ss than 50 hours.3.2.3.6 Humidity in accordance with 4.5.7. 21、rmined in accordance with ARP924.3.3.1 Surface Imperfections: Imperfections in the clear aperture area of the coating, as defined in MIL-STD-1241, shall not exceed the limits, shown in Table 3, evaluated in accordance with ARP924:4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS: 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection: Th
22、e vendor of the coating shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the coating conforms to the requirements of this speci
23、fication.4.2 Classification of Tests: 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests: Specular reflectance (3.2.1.1), light absorption (3.2.1.2), durability (3.2.2), salt spray resistance (3.2.3.5), humidity resistance (3.2.3.6), and quality (3.3) are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each lot.4.2.2 Preproduction
24、Tests: All technical requirements of this specification are classified as preproduction tests and shall be performed prior to or on the initial shipment of coated parts to a purchaser, when a change in material and/or processing requires reapproval as in 4.4.2, and when purchaser deems confirmatory
