TAPE, TEXTILE: WEBBING TEXTILE, NYLON The Parachute Industry Association makes this document available for use by Industry and Government organizations that wish to apply this specification to their products. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers five
3、classes of nylon tapes used in the fabrication of canopies of ribbon parachutes. 1.2 Classification. The tapes shall be furnished in the various classes and types indicated in TABLE I, as specified (see 6.2). 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in
4、Sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. Unless otherwise noted herein or in the contract, in the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the tex
18、t of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First Article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.2
19、. 3.2 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantag
20、eous life cycle costs (see 3.4). 3.3 Standard. When applicable, the finished tape shall match the standard for shade and appearance, and shall, unless otherwise indicated, be equal to or better than the standard with respect to all characteristics for which the standard is referenced (see 6.1). 3.4
21、Material. 3.4.1 Nylon Yarns. The nylon used in the manufacture of Class A tapes shall be semi- dull, normal tenacity yarns. The nylon used in the manufacture of Classes B, C, D, and E shall be bright, high-tenacity, light and heat resistant yarns. The nylon yarns used for all classes shall be polyam
22、ide prepared from hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid or its derivatives and shall have a melting point of 254 10C when tested in accordance with method AATCC 20. The yarn shall not be bleached in any manner or process (see 4.2.3.3). Page 3 of 17 PIA-T-5608D 3.4.2 Twist. The warp and filling yarn
23、for Classes A, B, and C shall have 10 turns 1 turn of “Z“ twist per inch. For Class D all Types and Class E, Types I, II, III and IV the warp yarns shall have 1 turn 1/2 turn of “Z“ twist per inch, and the filling yarns shall have a minimum of 2 turns of “S“ twist per inch;. For Class E, Types V and
24、 VI the warp and filling yarns shall have a minimum of 2 turns of either “S“ or “Z” twist per inch. 3.4.3 Fiber identification. When directed in the procurement document or purchase order, each spool of tape shall be labeled or ticketed and invoiced for fiber content in accordance with the Rules and
