When specified (see 6.2), the contractor shall furnish sample units for first article inspection and approval (se

16、e 4.3 and 6.4). 3.2 Materials. Materials shall con orm to applicable specifications and as specified herein. Materials which are not covered by applicable specifications or which are not specifically described herein, shall be of the best quality, of the lightest practicable weight and suitable for

17、the purpose intended. 3.3 Design and construction, The design and construction shall be in accor- dance with Drawings 8-2-66, 8-2-67 and 8-2-68 except as noted herein and on Figure 1. 3.3.1 Front. The front shall be in accordance with Drawing 8-2-67, except as specified herein. The front shall be so

18、 constructed to fit accurately with the lenses specified herein and shall show no evidence of spacing between the frame and lens. The base metal for the front shall be made of nickel silver con- taining not less than 14 percent nickel. The base metal shall be plated with a non-brightening nickle pla

19、te of not less than 0.0025mm (0.0001 inch) followed by a flash chrome plate of a minimum of 0.000076 mm (0.000003 inch) on all signi- ficant surfaces. The nose pad shall be of the rocking-pad type and shall be adjustable to fit a wide range of nose sizes. The nose pad shall be in accor- dance with Drawing 8-2-67 and sha

21、ll be made of a clear, colorless, cellulose acetate butyrate. 3.3.1.1.1 Nose pad arm. The nose pad arm shall be in accordance with Drawing 8-2-68. The base metal, plating and finish shall be as specified for the front. 3.3.1.1.2 Nose pad insert. The nose pad insert shall be in accordance with Drawin

22、g 8-2-67. 3.3.1.1.3 Nose pad washer. The nose pad washer shall be in accordance with Drawing 8-2-68 and 8-2-67. 3.3.2 End pieces. The end pieces shall be constructed to permit independent removal of either the lens or temple and shall be in accordance with Drawing 8-2-67. The base metal, plating and

23、 finish of the end pieces shall be as specified for the front. 3.3.3 Temples. The temples shall be in accordance with Drawings 8-2-67 and 8-2-68. The base metal, plating and finish of the temples, except the temple screws, shall be as specified for the front. 3.3.3.1 Temple tips. The temple tips sha

24、ll be in accordance with Drawing 8-2-68. 3.3.3.2 Temple screws. The temple screws shall be in accordance with Drawings 8-2-67 and 8-2-68. 3.3.4 Lenses. The lenses shall conform to the right and left lens tem- plates as shown on Drawing 8-2-68. The lenses shall be made of Schott KG-3 optical glass or

25、 equivalent with a minimum optical density of 3.1 at 1064 nano- meters (nm). The thickness of the lenses shall be a minimum of 2.0 mm. The lenses shall be ground and polished to a curvature of +6 It diopters when the dioptric value is calculated on the basis of an index of refraction of 1.530. The l

26、enses shall be heat treated or chemically tempered for impact resistance. 3.3.5 The carrying case shall be in accordance with Drawing 8-2-66, except the color of the carrying case and the button shall approximately match color number 30450 of FED-STD-595. The carrying case shall be crush resistant.

27、Carrying case. 3.3.5.1 Case covering. The case covering shall be flexible vinyl chloride film conforming to the requirements of L-P-375 for the 0.020 inch thickness of type I, class 2, except that the thickness shall be 0.89 1: 0.09 mm, the ultimate elongation (Dansdirection) shall be 200 percent mi

28、nimum and the stiffness (Clark at 24 C (75OF) shall be 20 3. 3 cm. The outer surface of the case covering shall have a simulated natural grain leather finish. The inside sur- face of the case shall have a smooth finish. 3.3.5.2 Case insert. The case insert shall be m3de from unfilled poly- propylene

29、 resin having a density of 900 to 910 Kg/m and a minimum tensile strength of 27.6 MPa. 30、5 MIL-S-85508 (AS) 3.4 Performance. 3.4.1 Spectacles (optical requirements). 3.4.1.1 Matching. The right and left lenses of the spectacles, when tested as specified in 4.5.2, shall match in the visual center of each lens in sign and prismatic power, to within 118 prism diopter in the vertical direct

31、ion and in total visible transmission to within 5 percent of the higher of the pair. 3.4.1.2 Prismatic and vertex power. The prismatic power of the plano lens shall not exceed 1/8 prism diopter and the vertex power of the lens shall not exceed f 1/8 diopter in any meridian when tested as specified i

32、n 4.5.3. The comparable value of prescription lens shall be as prescribed. 3,4.1.3 Definition. The spectacle lenses, when tested as specified in 4.5.4, shall show clear definition. 3.4.1.4 Glass defects. The spectacle lenses, when inspected as specified in 4.5.5, shall be free from surface waves, st

33、riae or other irregularities affecting optical qualities which would cause sudden jumps or blurring. 3.4.1.5 Surface quality. The lens, when inspected as specified in 4.5.6, shall appear black against a black background with side illumination. 3.4.1.6 Lens fit. The spectacles, when inspected as spec

34、ified in 4.5.7, shall show na evidence of visible space between the frame and lens. 3.4.1.7 Curvature. The dioptric value of the contraocular surface of the plano lenses shall be +6 f a diopters calculated on the basis of an index of re- fraction of 1.530 when tested as specified in 4.5.8. The compa

35、rable value of prescription lens shall be as pregcribed. 3.4.1.8 Spectral transmittance. 3.4.1.8.1 Daylight transmittance. The daylight transmittance of the spec- tacle lenses, when computed as specified in 4.5.9.1, shall be greater than 80 percent. 3.4.1.8.2 Chromaticity coordinates. The chromatici

36、ty coordinates of the spectacle lenses, when computed as specified bia 4.5.9.2, shall be within the limits as indicated on Drawing 8-2-68, 3.4.1.8.3 Near-infrared transmittance. The average near-infrared transmit- tance of the spectacle lenses, when computed as specified in 4.5.9.3, shall be less th

37、an 15%. Further, the maximum transmittance at 1064 rn shall be less than o. 1%. 3.4.1.8.4 Erythemal-ultraviolet transmittance, The erythemal ultraviolet transmittance of the spectacle lenses, when computed as specified in 4-5.9.4, shall not exceed 0.2 percent. 3.4.1.8.5 Spectral transmittance deviat

38、ion. The spectral transmittance of spectacle lenses, when computed as specified in 4.5.9.5, may vary with wave- length between 430 and 730 nanometers so that the average percentage deviation within nine spectral bands from daylight transmittance is less than 12 percent. 5 Provided by IHSNot for Resa

The carrying case, when tested as specified in 4.5.10, shall not show any evidence of material failure and shall prevent any damage to the spectacles

40、within the case. 3.4.3 Lens. 3.4.3.1 Thickness. The thickness of the lens, when tested as specified in 4.5.11, shall be a minimum of 2 m. 3.4.3.2 Impact resistance. The lens, when tested as specified in 4.5.12, shall not fracture. A lens shall be considered to have fractured if it cracks through its

41、 entire thickness and across a complete diameter into two or more separate pieces or if any material visible to the naked eye is detached from the occular surface. 3.4.4 Frames. 3.4.4.1 Corrosion resistance. The frames, when tested as specified in 4.5.13, shall show no evidence of corrosion on any o

42、f the significant surfaces. The significant surfaces being those in contact with the wearer. 3.4.4.2 Adhesion test. The chrome plating and any underplating on the frames shall not separate from each other or from the base metal when tested as specified in 4.5.14. No detachment of the plating shall b

43、e possible by probing with a sharp instrument. Cracks in the base metal or plating shall not be considered a failure unless accompanied by flaking, peeling or blistering. 3.4.4.3 Heat resistance. The frames, when tested as specified in 4.5.15, shall show no visible signs of blistering, discoloration

44、, or white or crystaline film. 3.4.4.4 Ductility. The frames, when tested as specified in 4.5.16, shall not have any visible cracks passing completely across the bend area. 3.4.5 Base metal composition analysis. The base metal composition of each component, when tested as specified in 4.5.17, shall

45、be as specified herein. 3.4.6 Gloss. The maximum gloss of the frames, when tested as specified in 4.5.18, shall not exceed 50 percent. 3.5 Interchangeability. All parts having the same manufacturers part number shall be functionally and dimensionally interchangeable. The drawing number requirements

46、of DOD-STD-100, shall govern changes in the manufacturers part numbers. 3.6 Identification marking. 3.6.1 Carrying case. The front flap of the carrying case shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-130 by heat embossing and shall contain the following information: SPECTACLES, NEODYMIUM LASER PROTE

The following caution notice shall be placed,in the

48、unit package with the carrying case. The notice should be printed on white paper. CAUTION NOTICE: These glasses are not safety glasses. Although impact resistant lenses provide greater pro- tection than ordinary lenses, they are not shatterproof or breakproof and DO NOT provide an unbreakable shield

49、 against eye injury. Since the life expectancy of .chrome electroplating is dependent on the type and duration o use, wearers are advised that these frames should be replaced when the chrome electroplating erodes to the point when underplating is exposed. These laser protection spectacles have been designed to protect aircrew personnel against possible harmful effects of Neodymium laser energy at a wavelength of 1064 nanometers (nm). In order to provid
