SCOPE 1.1 Scope - The equipments covered by this specification shall . be two air

2、borne search radars which shall provide means for searching for and detecting surface targets. The AN/APS-llSB shall be a dual radar set for use where full azimuth coverage must be obtained by a dual (fore and aft) installa- tion, azimuth coverage can be obtained with a single antenna. The AN/APS-12

3、2 shall be a single radar set for use where the desired 1.2 ClassificatXon - The AN/APS-llSB and the AN/APS-122 Radar Sets shall consist of the following items: ITEM TYPE DESIGNATION APPL. REQUIREMENTS 3;l Preproduction - This specification makes provision

16、 for pre- production testing. 3.2 Parts and Materials - In the selection of parts and materials fulfillment of major design objectives shall be the prime consideration. so doing, the following shall govern: In (1) Microelectronic Technology shall be considered and microelectronic items shall conform

17、 to requirements specified herein. (2) Other parts and materials requirements shall conform to Specification MIL-E-5400. (3) Nonrepairable subassemblies shall be used in accordance with Specification AR-10 and as outlined in Specifica- tion MIL-E-5400. (4) When previously produced models of this equ

18、ipment did not use nonrepairable subassemblies, the design shall not be changed to employ nonrepairable assemblies with- out the approval of the procuring activity. 3.2.1 Nonstandard Parts and Materials Approval - Approval for the use of nonstandard parts and materials (including electron tubes, tra

19、nsistors and diodes) other than microelectronic devices shall be obtained as outlined in Specification MIL-E-5400. approved as outlined in AR-5. Microelectronic devices shall be 3.2.2 Microelectronic Modular Assemblies - When used, Micro- electronic Modular Assemblies shall meet the requirements of

21、t license from IHS-,-,-5 MIL-R-81858 (AS) 3.3 Design and Construction - The equipment shall comply with all the applicable requirements of MIL-E-5400, class U equipment, for design, construction and workmanship, except as otherwise -specified herein. 3.3.1 Total Weight - The total weight of the equi

22、pment, excluding cables, shall be a minimum consistent with good design and shall not exceed 530 pounds for the AN/APS-l15B and 301 pounds for the AN/APS-122. 3.3.2 Reliability - The reliability program for the equipment as On reorder specified herein shall be in full compliance with MIL-STD-785. fr

23、om a supplier who has previously produced the equipment, the program pre- viously used may be continued unless otherwise indicated in the contract or order. 3.3.2.1 Operational Stability - The equipments shall operate either on a continuous or intermittent basis with satisfactory performance for a p

24、eriod of at least 150 hours for the AN/APS-l15B and of at least 270 hours for the AN/APS-122 without the necessity for readjustment of any controls which are inaccessible to the operator during normal use. 3.3.2.2 Operating Life - The equipments shall have a total operating life of 5000 hours with s

25、cheduled maintenance. Parts requiring replacement by scheduled maintenance, and reliable life of such parts shall be specified by the supplier and reviewed and approved by the procuring activity. 3.3.2.3 Reliability in MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) - The Equipments, including any built-in-test p

26、rovisions, shall have 150 hours of mean (operating) time between failures for the AN/APS-l15B and 270 hours of mean (operating) time between failures for the AN/APS-122 when tested and accepted as outlined under the requirements of 4.4.3. 3.3.2.4 Time Totalizing Meter - The equipment shall contain t

27、ime totalizing meters in accordance with MIL-M-7793. 28、 without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-R-81858 (AS) 3.3.3 Cabling and Connections 3.3.3.1 Cables and Connectors - The equipment shall provide for the use of cables and connectors in accordance with MIL-E-5400. 3.3.3.2 Interconnection Cabling - The equipment shall be capable of satisfactory operation usin

29、g external wiring in accordance with the applicable requirements of Specification MIL-W-5088. The external wiring shall be unshielded, except that a minimum number of the individual wires may be shielded when demonstrated as necessary to meet interference control requirements and provided the assemb

30、ly of the cable to its plugs may be easily accomplished. attached to the cables shall not be supplied as part of the equipment. 31、cation MIL-C-6781, The configuration of all panels must be approved by the procuring activity prior to preproduction testing. 3.3.5 Interchangeability - The equipment shall meet the interchange- ability requirements of Specification MIL-E-5400. 3.3.6 Interference Control - The generation of electrom

32、agnetic interference by the equipment and the vulnerability of the equipment to radio interference shall be controlled within the limits of Specification MIL-1-6181 except as noted herein. 3.3.6.1 Short Duration Interference - Interference resulting from manual operation of switch may deviate from t

35、its shall be designed so that a defec- - tive functional loop can be isolated to a module or a group of modules. Module as used herein is defined as any segment of an equipment that can be removed and reinserted without a requirement for soldering (Brazing), welding or other similar techniques. 3.3.

36、7.2 Module Accessibility - Modules shall be arranged so that access to any module does not require removing adjacent modules or parts other than access panels.
