2、epartment of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification addresses the requirements for rotary and fixed wing aviators spectacles with carrying case, designated EDU-5P, which provide protection against multiple fixed laser wavelengths. 2. In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text o
14、f this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), samples shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.2. 3
15、.2 Materials. The contractor shall select the materials, but the materials shall meet all the operational and environmental requirements specified herein. 3.2.1 Lens material. The polycarbonate material used for the spectacle lenses shall be in accordance with ASTM-D3 93 5. 3.3 Desim. The spectacles
16、 shall provide protection for aircrew against multiple fixed laser wavelengths. They shall be compatible with all helmets, visors, and other head attached hardware that Navy and Army rotary and fixed wing aircrew use. They shall not require external power or apparatus. All cockpit displays, lights,
17、and phosphors shall be visible when the spectacles are worn. 3.3.1 Lenses. The lenses shall meet the protection requirements of this specification. Lenses shall have scratch resistant surfaces. Markings on the lenses shall be in accordance with 3.6.1. 3.3.2 Frame. The fiame shall be corrosion and he
18、at resistant. The color of the frame shall be black. It shall be compatible with the Chemical Biological Radiological (CBR) Protective Assembly, Type Designator AR22P-90. Ifvarious frame sizes are required to meet the protective requirements, these sizes shall be marked on the frame and shall be in
19、accordance with 3.6.1. 3.3.3 Carrying case. A black carrying case shall be provided with each pair of spectacles. It shall have a means of closure. A specified force applied to the lens area of the closed case, in accordance with 4.5.6, shall not damage the spectacles. The inside surface shall be su
20、fficiently smooth to prevent lens scratches. Lens overlav template. A lens overlay template shall
21、 be included with the carrying case if the spectacles use an eye centered design. The lens overlay template shall locate the optical center of the lenses and allow this location to be temporarily marked on the lens. 3.4 Performance characteristics. 3.4.1 Visual and dimensional examination. When visu
22、ally and dimensionally examined, the spectacles and carrying case shall meet the requirements specified herein. Table I shail be used to identi the defects. 3.4.2 Optical reauirements. 3.4.2.1 Matching. When tested as specified in 4.5.1.1, the design eyepoint of the right and left lenses of the spec
23、tacles shall match in location and shall match at the design eyepoint of each lens in sign, prism, and power to the requirements of 3.4.2.2.1, 3.4.2.2.2, and 3.4.2.3. 3.4.2.2 Prismatic deviation (optical power). 3.4.2.2.1 Vertical urismatic deviation. When measured at the design eyepoint of the righ
24、t and left lens as specified in 4.5.1.2.1; the prismatic power shall not: a. Exceed a prism imbalance of O. 125 diopter for prism of the same or opposite base (base up - base up I O: 125 or base down - base down 0.125 or base up - base down I O. 125). b.
