SCOPE 1
2、.1 Scope. This specification covers resin treated glass-fiber electrical insulation for use in the insulation of electric cables. 1.2 Classification. Electrical insulation shall be of the following forms and types, as specified (see 6.2): Tape: Type SR-1 - Coated, Frayproof (for cable sealing). Cord
3、age: Type SR-4 - For cable installation. Type SR-4.5 - Lacing cord for cable installation. Type SR-5 - For cable installation (color coded). 2. Tape may be made by treating glass-fiber tape of the specified width or by cutting cloth or wider tape after treating, pr
10、ovided the finished tape conforms to this specification. 3.1.1 Uncoated material. The uncoated fabric shall be continuous filament glass-fiber cloth con- forming to form 4, class C, cloth number 112 of MIL-Y-1140. 3.1.2 Coating. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or order (see 6.2), the fabr
11、ic shall be coated with (vinyl) resin suitably compounded and blocked. coating method to both sides of the fabric so that it is completely impregnated and coated. coating is not permissible. the finished material shall be black. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), tape shall be furnished in 25-ya1-d lengths rolled on a 1-1/2 inch diameter core, in l/Z, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 inch widths (see 4.4.1.4.2 for measure- ment of width). The finishsd msterial
13、 shall have an average thickness of not less than 0.006 inch (meas- uring not less than O.QO55 inch in any area). 3.1.4 Breaking strength. pounds per inch width (see f+J+.l.l). The breaking strength of the finished tape shall be not less than 80 3.1.5 Flammability. The length of the burned portion s
14、hall not exceed 2.75 inches and no flame indicator on any of the specimens shall show any signs of scorching, burning, or decompositon by flame when tested as specified in 4.4.1.2. 3.1.6 Flexibilite. The coating shall not crack or fracture when the tape is tested as specified in 4.4.1.3. 3.1.7 Chemi
15、cal resistance. There shall be no softening, loosening, or peeling of the coating from the fabric when tested as specified in 4.4.1.5. 3.2 T,ype SR-4. The material shall consist of glass-fiber cordage, coated with a suitable synthetic resin. 3.2.1 Uncoated material. The glass-fiber cordage, before c
16、oating, shall conform to form 2, class C, cordage number EC9-44 of MIL-Y-1140. 3.2.2 Coating. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or order (see 6.2), the cordage shall be coated with a suitable synthetic resin composition gray in color. 3.2.3 Dimensions. The diameter of the completed cord sha
