3、ICATION VALVE, HOSE ASSEMBLY, AND ADAPTER, VENT AND TEST HYDRAULIC SERVICE, GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR This specification is approved for use by the Naval Sea Systems Command, Department of the Navy, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 S

4、cope. This specification covers vent and test valves, hose assemblies, and adapters suitable for hydraulic service to a maximum operating pressure of 310 bars 4,500 pounds per square inch (lb/in2). 1.2 Classification. Vent and test valves, hose assemblies, and adapters are furnished in the configura

5、tion and sizes listed in the applicable specification sheet (see 3.1 and 6.2). 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in sections 3, 4, or 5 of this specification. This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification o

REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Specification sheets. The individual item requirements shall be as specified herein and in accordance with the applicable s

16、pecification sheet. In the event of any conflict between the requirements of this specification and the specification sheet, the latter shall govern. 3.2 Qualification. Vent and test valves, hose assemblies, and adapters furnished under this specification shall be products that are authorized by the

17、 qualifying activity for listing on the applicable qualified products list at the time of award of contract (see 4.2 and 6.3). 18、rein, parts shall be constructed of materials that are compatible with the following hydraulic service fluids: MIL-PRF-17672, MIL-H-19457, MIL-H-22072, and MIL-PRF-17331 (see 3.3.6 and 3.3.7). Verification of material compatibility shall be by analysis or test (see 4.2.6). 3.3.2 Prohibited materials

19、. The following materials shall not be used: a. Toxic materials. b. Zinc or zinc plated materials. c. Mercury. d. Magnesium or magnesium base alloys. e. Radioactive materials. f. Asbestos. g. Cadmium plated materials. h. Beryllium. i. Hexavalent Chromium. 3.3.3 Recycled, recovered, or environmentall

20、y preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.3.4 Nickel alloys.

21、Nickel alloys for use in pressure containing vent and test valve, hose assembly, or adapter parts shall be limited to nickel-copper (NiCu) alloy: QQ-N-281, Class A (see 4.2.3.1, 4.2.4.1, and 4.2.5.1). 3.3.5 Corrosion resistant steel (CRES). The use of chromium-nickel austenitic steel in pressure con

22、taining vent and test valve, hose assembly, or adapter parts shall be limited to Class 304, 304L, 316, or 316L in accordance with SAE AMS-QQ-S-763; Type 316Ti in accordance with ASTM A276; or other steel as approved by the qualifying activity (see 4.2.3.1, 4.2.4.1, and 4.2.5.1). 3.3.6 Non-metallic m

23、aterials. Vent and test valve cap, if fabricated from non-metallic materials, shall be compatible with all hydraulic service fluids specified herein (see 3.3.1). Hose assembly parts fabricated from non-metallic materials shall be compatible with all hydraulic service fluids specified herein (see 3.3

24、.1). 3.3.7 O-rings. Internal O-ring seals shall be compatible with all hydraulic service fluids specified herein (see 3.3.1) or shall be in accordance with SAE AS3581 (see 4.2.3.1 and 4.2.5.1). External O-ring seals shall be fluorocarbon elastomer in accordance with SAE AS3581 and shall be provided

25、with the valve (see 4.2.3.1). 3.4 Construction. 3.4.1 Vent and test valves. Vent and test valves shall be constructed as specified herein and in the applicable specification sheet. The vent and test valves furnished under this specification shall seal by means of a spring loaded check valve. A probe

26、, integral to the end fitting of the hose assembly and conforming to the configuration identified in the applicable specification sheet, shall be used to open the check valve by depressing the ball or poppet, opening the flow passage. When specified by the specification sheet (see MIL-DTL-24695/1) p

27、art number designation, a lock wire hole on the hex portion of the valve shall be provided in accordance with the specification sheet. 3.4.1.1 Strength. Vent and test valves shall withstand the structural loads imposed by the test requirements of this specification. Valves shall withstand the wrench

28、 loads required for installation. The use of aluminum alloys for threaded applications is prohibited. 3.4.1.2 Clearance. Within the most adverse dimensions, there shall be clearance of moving parts at 0 and at 70 C (32 and at 158 F). The room temperature reference point shall be 20 C (68 F). Provide

A knurled valve cap shall be attached to the valve for installation when the hose assembly is not connected. The cap shall be equipped with a male connection to mate wi

30、th the probe seal in the valve. This male connection shall not be long enough to actuate the valve. This male connection and the probe seal shall form a seal that prevents leakage at 310 bars (4,500 lb/in2) (see 4.2.3.5 and 4.3.1.2.1.3). 3.4.2 Hose assemblies. Hose assemblies shall be constructed as

31、 specified herein and in the applicable specification sheet. The hose assembly shall have a probe which is integral to the reverse buttress thread end fitting. An O-ring seal, located within the vent and test valve, shall seal against the probe (see 3.4.1). Dimensions shall conform to the applicable

32、 specification sheet. The probe shall be used to depress the check valve ball or poppet, opening the flow passage. The minimum hose internal diameter shall be not less than 1.0 millimeter (0.039 inch). 3.4.3 Adapters. Adapters shall be constructed as specified herein and in the applicable specificat

33、ion sheet. Dimensions shall conform to the applicable specification sheet. Adapters shall be equipped with a locking elastomer ring to dampen shock and vibration that may loosen the adapter. The adapter shall be sized to mate with the vent valve hose fitting (see MIL-DTL-24695/2 for detail of vent a

34、nd test valve hose assembly end fitting). 3.5 Performance. Vent and test valves, hose assemblies, and adapters shall perform as follows (see 4.2). 3.5.1 Vent and test valves. 3.5.1.1 Proof pressure. The valve shall withstand a proof pressure of 465 bars (6,750 lb/in2) without signs of external leaka

35、ge, failure, or permanent set (see 4.2.3.2). The valve cap shall withstand a proof pressure of 465 bars (6,750 lbs/in2) without signs of external leakage, failure, or permanent set (see 4.2.3.2). 3.5.1.2 Shock. The valve shall meet the shock requirements as specified in MIL-S-901 for Grade A, Class

36、I equipment (see 4.2.3.3). 3.5.1.3 Leakage. Leakage shall be limited to those criteria specified in the leakage tests with the valve uncapped and capped (see 4.2.3.4 and 4.2.3.5). 3.5.1.4 Operation. The torque required to couple the hose assembly to the valve under the maximum operating pressure of

37、310 bars (4,500 lb/in2) shall not exceed 2.0 Newton meters (18 inch-pounds) (see 4.2.3.6). 3.5.1.5 Endurance. The valves shall withstand 250 open/shut cycles or seating/unseating of the valves internal check or poppet by the hose assembly probe or equivalent substitute at an operating pressure of 31

38、0 bars (4,500 lb/in2) at room temperature without evidence of external leakage to exceed one drop during a 2-hour period following valve cycling (see 4.2.3.6). 3.5.1.6 Vibration. The valves shall operate as specified herein after being subjected to vibration tests in accordance with MIL-STD-167-1 (s

39、ee 4.2.3.7). Presence of any of the following conditions resulting from vibration shall be cause for rejection: a. Damage to parts. b. Loosening of parts (including cap). c. Leakage of one drop or more from the uncapped valve. d. Loosening (unscrewing) of the valve when the cap is removed. 3.5.1.7 B

40、urst pressure. The valve shall withstand a burst pressure of 620 bars (9,000 lb/in2) without any sign of rupture or permanent deformation (see 4.2.3.8). 3.5.1.8 Valve flow rate. The vent and test valve, when connected to the hose assembly and adapter, shall pass a minimum of 250 milliliters (15.3 in

41、3) per minute at a pressure differential of 10 bars (145 lb/in2) (see 4.2.3.9). 3.5.2 Hose assembly. 3.5.2.1 Proof pressure. The hose assembly shall withstand a proof pressure of 620 bars (9,000 lb/in2) (see 4.2.4.2). Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without licen

The hose assembly shall exhibit no evidence of permanent deformation when pressurized to 310 bars (4,500 lb/in2) operating pressure at a bend radius of 40 millimeters (1.57 inches) (see 4.2.4.3). 3.5.2.3 Leakage. The hose assembly shall show

43、no sign of leakage after 2 hours under an operating pressure of 310 bars (4,500 lb/in2) (see 4.2.4.4). 3.5.2.4 Burst pressure. The hose assembly shall withstand a burst pressure of 1,240 bars (18,000 lb/in2) with no sign of leakage (see 4.2.4.5). 3.5.3 Adapters. 3.5.3.1 Proof pressure. The adapter s

44、hall withstand a proof pressure of 465 bars (6,750 lb/in2) without permanent deformation or damage (see 4.2.5.2). 3.5.3.2 Operation. The torque required to couple hose assembly to the adapter shall not exceed 2.0 Newton meters (18 inch-pounds) (see 4.2.5.4). 3.5.3.3 Leakage. The adapter shall show n

45、o sign of leakage after 2 hours under an operating pressure of 310 bars (4,500 lb/in2) (see 4.2.5.3). 3.5.3.4 Burst pressure. The adapter shall withstand a burst pressure of 620 bars (9,000 lb/in2) without any sign of rupture or permanent deformation (see 4.2.5.5). 3.6 Marking. Each valve and each h

46、ose assembly shall be identified with a metal or plastic tag (see 4.2.3.1 and 4.2.4.1) bearing the following information: a. Manufacturers name, trademark, or logo. b. Specification sheet part number. c. Manufacturers part number. d. Assembly date (by quarter and year). 3.7 Interchangeability. In no

47、 case shall parts be physically interchangeable or reversible unless such parts are also interchangeable or reversible with regard to function, performance, and strength (see 4.2.3.1). 3.8 Workmanship. Vent and test valves, hose assemblies, and adapters shall be free from porosity, roughness, or any

48、 other defect which might affect their serviceability (see 4.2.3.1, 4.2.4.1, and 4.2.5.1). 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. Qualification inspection (see 4.2). b. Conformance inspection (see 4.3). 4.2 Qualif

49、ication inspection. Qualification inspection shall be conducted at a laboratory approved by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). Qualification inspection shall consist of the tests and examinations as specified in 4.2.1 through 4.2.6 and shall be conducted in the order as shown in tables I, II, and III unless otherwise approved by the qualifying activity.
