This specification covers the requirements for the manufacture and acceptance of the CCU-l27/A Fire Extinguisher Cartridge, referred to herein as “cartridge“. 2. 15、 the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENS 3.1 First article. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.

16、2), a first article sample (see 6.3) of 36 cartridges conforming to DL 3205AS105 shall be produced using the same procedures and methods proposed for production. The sample shall be tested as specified in 4.2.1 (see table I). 3.2 Primary components. The ignition charge and the output charge are prim

17、ary components. Only one lot of each primary component shall be used in a cartridge lot. One primary lot may be used in more than one cartridge lot. 3.3 Cartridge production. The cartridges shall be manufactured in accordance with DL 3205AS105 and the documents listed thereon. Each production cartri

18、dge shall meet the requirements of 3.3.1 through 3.3.6 as outlined in table II. Failure of any cartridge to meet the requirements of table II shall result in rejection of that cartridge. 3.3.1 Visual inspection. Cartridges shall be free of the following defects: illegible, missing or inaccurate iden

19、tification markings, damaged or insufficient surface coatings, burrs, dents, sharp edges, or other defects which may prevent entry of the cartridge into the firing chamber, or affect the resistance of the cartridge to moisture. Each cartridge shall meet the requirements of 3.2, 3.5 and Drawing 3205A

20、S105. 3.3.2 Bridge circuit resistance. Each cartridges bridge circuit resistance shall be 1 .OO, l minutes at a pressure of 2 atmospheres absolute and venting with air for 10 ?:minutes or washed with dry nitrogen. The cartridges shall then be tested in a dry gas leak tester. Each cartridge shall mee

21、t the requirements of 3.3.4. 43.5 Insulation resistance test. The insulation resistance between the terminal stud and the cartridge body shall be measured by applying a potential of 100 f 5 VDC for a minimum of 60 seconds. Each cartridge shall meet the requirements of 3.3.5. 4.3.6 Dielectric strengt

22、h test. Dielectric strength shall be evaluated by applying 500 VDC or VAC for 60 $ seconds in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-202, Method 301. Each cartridge shall meet the requirements of 3.3.6. 43.7 Power current test. Power current shall be evaluated by conditioning the cartridge at +

23、200 f 5F for 4 hours minimum and then applying a direct current of not less than 1 ampere supplying a minimum of 1 watt from terminal stud to case for a period of S-izminutes. The test current shall be regulated to within 2 percent. Each cartridge shall meet the requirement of 3.4.1. 43.8 Static dis

24、charge. The cartridge shall be subjected to a static discharge test by being connected to a 500 f 5 percent picofarad capacitor charged to 25,000 f 500 volts and a 5,000 f 5 percent ohm resistor connected in a 500 microhenry total inductance series circuit. The cartridge shall be subjected to the st

25、atic discharge between the terminal stud and case. Failure of any cartridge to comply with the requirements of 3.4.2 shall be cause for rejection of the lot or first article. 43.9 Stray voltage. Stray voltage shall be evaluated by applying 100 f 5 milliamperes in 300 f 10 millisecond pulses at a rat

Cartridges shall be conditioned at 70 f 5F for 4 hours minimum prior to testing. Each cartridge shall meet

27、the requirements of 3.4.3. 4.3.10 Vibration Test. The cartridge shall be subjected to vibration testing in accordance with MIL- STD-810B, Method 514.24, curve H, except that: 1) there shall be no resonance search or dwell, 2) the cycling period shall be divided equally at -65“F, 70“F, and 200F. Fail

28、ure of any cartridge to comply with the requirements of 3.4.4 shall be cause for rejection of the lot or first article. 4.3.11 Temperature-ShocWHumidity/Altitude (TSHA). The TSHA test shall be conducted in accordance with the temperature-shock/humidity/altitude test of MIL-I-23659F omitting the refe

29、rence to Table I in MIL-I-23659F. Failure of any cartridge to comply with the requirements of 3.4.5 shall be cause for rejection of the lot or first article. 4.3.12 Shock test. The shock pulse shall be applied to the cartridges mounting points in both directions along each of three mutually perpendi

30、cular axes, for a total of 18 shocks. The shape of each shock pulse shall approximate as nearly as possible a half sine wave. The amplitude of each shock pulse shall exceed 200 gs for 1.5 f 0.4 milliseconds and it shall exceed 65 gs for 9.0 +, 0.9 milliseconds. Failure of any cartridge to comply wit

31、h the requirements of 3.4.6 shall be cause for rejection of the lot or first article. 4.3.13 Sait fog test. The cartridges shall be subjected to the salt fog test, with protective caps installed, in accordance with Procedure 1 of MIL-STD-810. The cartridges shall be exposed to a 5% salt solution for

32、 a 48-hour period on plastic trays. Failure of any cartridge to comply with the requirements of 3.4.7 shall be cause for rejection of the lot or first article. 4.3.14 Function test. Sample cartridges for the function test shall be conditioned for a period not less than 4 hours nor more than 24 hours

33、 at the specified temperatures. The cartridges shall be removed from the conditioning chamber and test fired within 5 minutes. If any cartridge is not fired within 5 minutes after removal, it shall be reconditioned at the specified temperature for an additional 4 hours and then tested. The cartridge

34、s shall be initiated using a current of 5.0 -Go: amperes. The cartridge shall be fired in the cartridge test firing setup shown in figure 1. A minimum of 8 ounces of water shall be added to the test fixture and the bottle (Walter Kidde P/N 899488 or equivalent) shall be pressurized to 600 “,Opounds

35、per square inch gauge Sig) prior to firing. The container has two discharge valve assemblies. Only one test cartridge shall be loaded into a discharge valve assembly per test shot. The other discharge valve assembly shall be sealed by a rupture disc. The cartridges shall meet the requirements specif

36、ied in 3.4.8. 4.3.14.1 Ignition time. The ignition time shall be measured from the first application of firing current until the first sign of loss of circuit continuity. Each cartridge shall meet the requirements of 3.4.8.1. 4.3.14.2 Disc rupture. The rupture disc sealing the other discharge valve

37、assembly shall be checked to confirm rupture and water discharge, as specified in 3.4.8.2, after the cartridge is fired. 4.3.14.3 Test failure. If a test failure is attributable to an assignable cause, excluding the test cartridges, the original test results shall be discarded and the test reconduct

PACKAGING 5.1 Preservation, packaging, and packing. Preservation, packaging, and packing shall be Level A and shall be in accordance wi

39、th 49 CFR 100-199 and NAVSUPINST 4030.28. The contractor shall also comply with all applicable transportation regulations. 5.1.1 Level A packaging. Level A preservation and packing (see 6.6), as specified in 5.1.1.1 through 5.1.1.2, shall be used for packaging of ail production lot for service use.

40、Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2), the number of inner containers per pack is optional. 5.1.1.1 IM containes. Two cartridges shall be sealed in conductive bags and placed in a wooden insert. The wooden insert shall be popular wood, 3.75 x 4 x 2 inches, having 1.2

41、5-inch diameter by 2.-ind1 (minimum) long holes. The corners of the wooden insert shall be trimmed to fit tightly in the can. A 3/8-inch thick plywood disc shall be placed over the top of the packing. The packing assembly shall then be placed in a light gage steel can, 4 1/16 inches in diameter by 4

42、 1/16 inches high, hermetically sealed, then coated with a sait spray resistant black paint. 10 Licensed by Information Handling Services* 5.1.1.2 Outer pack. Cartridges packaged in accordance with 5.1.1.1 shall be packaged in a nailed wood box conforming to PPP-B-621, Class 2, Style 4 or 4 1/2 or i

43、n a cleated plywood box conforming to PPP-B-01, Overseas Type, Style A or B. 5.2 Marking. 5.2.1 Special marking. Marking of outer containers shall be in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations 49 CFR 100-199. 5.2.2 Normal marking. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order (see

44、 6.2), the marking on the inner, intermediate, and outer containers shall be as specified below. The specified markings shall be applied to the containers in accordance with the applicable provisions of MIL-STD- 129-1. a. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2), the outer container shall be bar coded in accordance with MIL-STD-129-1, Part 2. Additionally, the above sp

49、ecified marking information shall be applied to the containers in accordance with the applicable provisions of MIL-STD-129. 5.3 Explanation of terms. For the purpose of this specification NAVSUPINST 4030.28, Paragraphs 1-4, 2-2, and 2-3, and Appendix A, when applicable, shall be used to clarify packaging terms. (This section contains information of a general or explanatory nature that may be helpful but is not mandatory.) 6.1 Intended Use. The cartridge is intended for use in releasing fire extinguishing agent into the area surrounding an aircraft engine in the event of fire. This
