2、 Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for one type of treated cotton cloth for use in aircraft. 2. The following document forms a part of this
8、specification to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise indicated, the issue in effect on date of invitation for bids or request for proposal shall apply. RULES AND REGULATIONS UNDER THE TEXTILE FIBER PRODUCTS IDENTIFICATION ACT (Application for copies should be addressed to the Federal Trade
9、 Commission, Washington, DC 20580.) (Technical society and technical association specifications and standards are generally available for reference from libraries. They are also dis- tributed among technical groups and using Federal agencies.) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Standard sample. The dyed finished c
10、loth shall match the standard sample for shade and shallbe equal to or better than the standard sample with respect to all characteristics for which the standard sample is refer- enced (see 6.4). 3.2 First article. When specified (see 6.2), the contractor shall furnish one sample unit for first arti
11、cle inspection and approval (see 4.3 and 6.3). 3.3 Material. The warp and filling shall be singles yarn spun from cleaned, carded and drawn cotton. 3.4 Cloth properties. The finished cloth shall conform to the require- ments specified in table I when tested as specified in 4.6. 3.5 Dimensions. 3.5.1
12、 Width. Rolls shall contain 100 to 2
13、50 linear yards, with no more than 5 pieces in each roll. 3.6 Color. The color of the finished cloth shall be as specified by the acquiring activity (see 6.2) and shall be obtained through the use of vat dyes. 3.6.1 Colorfastness. When tested as specified in 4.6, the finished cloth shall show colorf
14、astness to light, laundering, dry crocking, wet crocking and cold water equal to or better than the standard sample. When no standard sample for colorfastness is available, the finished cloth shall show *good“ colorfastness to light, laundering, dry crocking, wet crocking and cold water. . 3.6.2 Col
15、or matching. The color shall match the standard sample when examined in accordance with 4.6.1. - 3.7 Finish. 3.7.1 .Processing of the cloth. Dyestuffs, detergents, and other chemi- cals or finishing agents used in the manufacture of the cloth shall not cause deterioration under normal warehouse stor
16、age conditions, nor cause dermatitis on prolonged skin contact. 3.7.2 Non-fibrous material. The total sizing, finishing, and other non-fibrous material content of the cloth, prior to the application of the fire retardant treatment, shall not exceed 2.0 percent when tested as speci- fied in table II.
17、 3.7.3 Corrosion. The finished cloth shall be noncorrosive when tested as specified in 4.6.2, 3.8 Fiber identification. Each roll of cloth shall be labeled, ticketed or invoiced for fiber content in accordance with the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. 3.9 Workmanship. The finished cloth sh
18、all conform to the quality and grade of product established by this specification. The demerit points per 100 square yards, when calculated as specified in section 4, shall not exceed the established maximum point value. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless other
19、wise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all in- spection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suit- able for the performance of the inspection requirements
20、specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 3 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo

22、ation of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: 1. First article inspection (see 4.3). 2. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.2.1 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified, all testing shall be performed in accordance with the test conditi
23、ons specified in FED-SD-191. 4.3 First article inspection. When required (see 6.2) the first article sample submitted in accordance with 3.2 shall be visually inspected for appearance, color and finish, and shall be tested as specified in 4.6. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. The quality conforma
24、nce inspection shall consist of the tests specified in table II and the examinations in 4.4.1 through 4.5. 4.4.1 Examination of the end item. Examination of the end item shall be in accordance with the provisions of MIL-STD-105 and 4.4.1.1 through 4.4.4. 4.4.1.1 Yard-by-yard examination. Thirty yard
