(Copies of specifications and standards required by suppliers in connection with specific procurement functions should be obtained from the procuring activity or as directed by the contracting officer.) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. The
7、first article is defined as an antenna which shall be identical to the product the supplier will subsequently produce in fulfillment of the contract. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.21, as soon as practicable after award of the contract or order and prior to submission of any completed units for f
8、inal acceptance, the contractor shall furnish three first articles for testing under the direction and supervision of the cognizant Government inspector to determine con- formance to this specification. Examination and tests shall be as specified herein. Approval of the first article by the activity
9、 concerned shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility to supply antennas conforming to this specification. Any changes or deviations of the production units from the first articles shall be sUbject to the approval of the contracting officer. The first articles shall not be included in th
10、e final shipment as part of the total quantity to be furnished under contract or order. 3.2 Parts, materials and processes. Parts, materials and processes shall be in accordance with MIL-E-16400 except as otherwise specified herein. that requirements cannot be met by use of parts and materials as sp
11、ecified in MIL-E-16400, immediate action shall be taken by the contractor to inform the contracting officer by submission of detailed data in accordance with MIL-E-16400, requesting approval. 3.2.1 Nonstandard parts. Wherever possible, only material and parts which are nonnutrient to fungus shall be used. All other parts and material shall be treated as specified in MIL-STD-454 prior to use
13、in the antenna. Moisture fungusproofing of the overall antenna shall not be permitted. 3.3 Desiqn and construction. The antenna shall be a center-fed, ground independent, small uhf unit covering the 225 to 400 megahertz (MHz) range with a voltage standing wave ratio (vswr) of 2:l or better. 3.3.1 Po
14、larization. The antenna shall be designed for vertical polarization. 3.3.2 Mountinq. Antenna mounting assemblies shall not be a component of the antenna. The base of the antenna shall be constructed in a manner to make it capable of being mounted by a 2-1/2-inch wide clamp or bracket support. 3.3.3
15、Input.-cJmnect.or. The input connector shall be HN female series conformins to MIL-C-3643 and shall have mating dimensions as specified therein. 3.3.4 Cable. The cable from the input connector to the radiating elements shall be RG-l88A/U in accordance with MIL-C-17/69. 3.3.5 Frequency ranqe. The ant
16、enna shall be capable of satisfactory operation without hiatus at any frequency throughout the 225 through 400-MHz range. Mechanical tuning to operate the antenna at any specified frequency in this range shall not be required after initial manu- f acturing or factory adjustment. 3.3.6 Gain. The gain
17、, from 225 tlirogh i.e., the antenna shall not deviate in any way or degree from its pretest performance. The antenna shall be subjected to the altitude test of MIL-STD-810
19、, Method 500, procedure I, except that the maximum temperature shall be 71OC. test shall last for 15 hours and shall employ the greatest rate of pressure change possible. Pretest and post-test operation shall consist of testing the frequency range requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.1. The 4.6.3.2
20、 Hiqh temperature. The antenna shall be sub- jected to the high temperature test of MIL-STD-810, Method 501, procedure I. The maximum temperature of the test shall be 71OC. Operation before, during, and after testing shall consist of testing.the frequency range requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.
21、1. 4.6.3.3 Low temperature. The antenna shall be subjected to the low temperature test of MIL-STD-810, method502, procedure I. maintained for a period of 48 hours. Operation before, during, and after this test shall consist of testing the frequency range requirements in accordance with 4.6.2.1. 4.6.
