SCOPE. 1.1 Scope.
2、 This Commercial Item Description covers cable for communication and instrumentation that is watertight. It consists of five conductors, AWG size 18, and is rated at 600 volts. This cable is intended for shipboard use where submersion and weather are the major application factors. 2. SALIENT CHARACT
3、ERISTICS. 2.1 Product certification. This product shall be certified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory (NRTL) accredited for testing cable by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), U.S. Department of Labor for compliance with Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Inc. Standa
4、rd for Electrical Wires, Cables, and Flexible Cords, UL 1581 and the requirements specified herein. 2.2 Materials. Materials shall be as specified herein. Each conductor shall be 18 AWG stranded Class M, per ASTM B174,
7、and tin-coated copper per ASTM B33, with a separator. 2.3.2 Insulation. The insulation shall be a type of synthetic rubber per NEMA WC 70 with a nominal 0.032-inch wall thickness. 2.3.3 Identification. The color code shall be per ICEA Method 1, Table E1 or Method 4. 2.3.4 Shield. The number 2 or whi
8、te conductor shall be shielded with a copper polyester type tape. 2.3.5 Assembly. The five conductors shall be cabled around a polypropylene center filler using a 4.00-inch maximum left hand lay, covered with a binder of rubber-filled cotton tape having a 0.012-inch wall thickness using a 12.5 perce
9、nt helical lap. 2.3.6 Overall shield. The cable shall be covered with an overall braided shield (individual ends of 34 AWG tin coated copper, 16 carrier and 6 ends). The shield shall provide a minimum of 88 percent coverage and shall be insulated with a synthetic tape. 2.3.7 Jacket. The overall cabl
10、e jacket shall be black hypalon with a 0.050-inch minimum wall thickness to create a maximum cable OD of 0.560 inch. 2.4 Performance requirements. 2.4.1 Conductor. The conductor resistance shall not exceed 7.15 ohms per 1000 feet at 25 oC. 2.4.2 Conductor insulation. The conductor to shield insulati
11、on shall have a minimum resistance of 5000 megohms per 1000 feet and a minimum voltage withstand of 1000 VAC. 2.4.3 Shield insulation. The shield to shield insulation resistance shall be a minimum of 100 megohms per 1000 feet and voltage withstand a minimum of 500 VAC. 2.4.4 Bend radius. The cable s
12、hall have a minimum bend radius of at least 2.0 inches. 2.4.5 Shield removal. The shield shall be removable from the conductors and the conductors shall be separable without damage to the insulation and without destroying the identity of the color code. 3.
