Reference: File 30-1 Keywords: Sealer 1.0 APPLICATION This specification outlines the requirements for a liquid sealant material which is used during the as

5、sembly of studs, threaded pipe connections, and for coating of various solid gaskets. This product is intended to prevent seepage and seizure of cast iron and aluminum parts. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the general requirements, property and performance requirements, quality, source approval

6、 and quality control. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced

7、standards shall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this specification. A-16 4.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Material This compound shall be a fuel, oil and water resistant material consisting of polymerized vegetable oils, modified resin, fillers and solvents. While being resistant to aliphatic hydrocarbons, it is not resistant to alcohol, aromatic

9、 hydrocarbons and acetate esters. 4.2 Color Shall be black. 4.3 Toxicity Shall not be considered a toxic hazard when used with proper industrial hygiene. DECEMBER 2009 Page 2 of 4 4.4 Property And Performance Requirements This material shall meet the requirements and be tested in accordance with MIL-S-45180, Type II. 4.4.1

11、 Viscosity Required: 3000-30,000 poises. 4.4.2 Weight Required: 1460 48 kg/m (12.2 0.4 lbm/gal). 4.4.3 Solids Content Required: 85 3%. 4.4.4 Volatile Content Required: 13.0 2%. 4.4.5 Ash Content Required: 48 5%. 4.4.6 Flash Required: Shall be not less than 10C (50F). 4.4.7 Solubility % Maximum Requi

12、red: Aromatic Fluid TT-S-735 Type II 10 Aromatic Fluid TT-S-735 Type III 9 Ethylene Glycol 0-A-548 Type I 8 Distilled Water 6 4.4.8 Flexibility Required: Shall not crack when flexed at -35 1C (-30 2F). 5.0 QUALIFICATION Material and processes submitted for approval to this specification shall includ

13、e the following: 5.1 A detailed, signed test report documenting testing to this specification per TMS-9543. 5.2 Test coupons or photographs showing failure modes for each test. 5.3 The complete procedure used for preparing and curing materials for test, especially surface preparation and condition o

15、a smooth and homogeneous mixture, free from lumps, caked material and particles of foreign matter. 6.1 Storage When stored in original containers at 16C (60F) to 30C (85F), it shall have a minimum of two years shelf life. 17、f a spatula or stiff brush. 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to Navistar Inc. are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. Navistar will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (

18、Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Navistar Corporate Buyer upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or pu

19、rchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction,

20、color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering, Truck Development and Technology Center and Navistar Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test sample

21、s, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and/or report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or

22、TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using Navistar plant may dete

23、rmine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing, and identification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing Std.
