12、be used to meet the requirements of this specification. 1) Present steel industry practice is to express the yield of these materials as yield point, and determination is by drop of beam, dividers or other method from ASTM A370. Unless otherwise specified, this practice is acceptable for material su
13、pplied to this specification, and no extensometer extras are applicable. Values in italics are for yield strength not yield point. 2) These grades are required to meet impact properties as specified in Section 6.2.1. Mechanical properties may be obtained by normalizing, stress relieving, quenching a
14、nd tempering or other thermal treatments. 3) This type is easily weldable and bendable; designed for thermal cutting only; does not tolerate shear cutting. 4) Type 65X may be specified or ordered as Type 65XF when improved formability is required (e.g., 5th wheel angles). 5) When HSLA steel bars are
15、 specified, replace the “X” suffix with “F” (e.g. 65F) 6) ASTM A675 alloy Grade 65 is similar to alloy 65F. ASTM A675 alloy Grade 65 may be substituted for alloy 65F as required.
