The content of this Standard Practice is the resulting efforts of competent and experienced volunteers to
3、 provide an effective, clear, and non-exclusive standard that will benefit the industry as a whole. This MSS Standard Practice describes minimal requirements and is intended as a basis for common practice by the manufacturer, the user, and the general public. The existence of an MSS Standard Practic
4、e does not in itself preclude the manufacture, sale, or use of products not conforming to the Standard Practice. Mandatory conformance to this Standard Practice is established only by reference in other documents such as a code, specification, sales contract, or public law, as applicable. MSS has no

15、hout the Standard Practice from cast iron to gray iron, added a Forward, added nominal size designation in DN, and deleted construction designations. This 2011 edition of MSS SP-85, in addition to various editorial and formatting updates, includes changes to: (1) delete the nominal size designation
16、in DN in Section 2.4; (2) revise Section 4.5 involving handwheel materials; (3) revise Section 4.6 involving bolting; (4) add a minimum wall thickness requirement for the valve body and bonnet (new Section 5.2) and renumber the rest of Section 5; (5) revise and correct Section 5.3.1 (old 5.2.1) invo
17、lving end flanges; (6) revise Section 5.14 (old 5.13) involving bypass and drain connections; (7) revise Section 7.1 involving tests; (8) revise Sections 7.3 and 7.4 involving hydrostatic and gas seat tests and clarify the leakage rate in Section 7.4; (9) correct information in Table 1; and (10) upd
