3、 of telecommunications. The IT Telecornmunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of the IZZT. Some 179 member countries, 84 telecom operating entities, 145 scientific and industrial organizations and 38 international organizations participate in IT-T which is the body which sets

4、 world telecommunications standards (Recommendations). The approval of Recommendations by the Members of IT-T is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSC Resolution No. 1 (Helsinki, 1993). In addition, the World Telecommunication Standardization Conference (WTSC), which meets every four years, app

5、roves Recommendations submitted to it and establishes the study programme for the following period. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative basis with IS0 and IEC. The text of ITU-T Recommendation X.236 was app

The set of Recommend

18、ations I International Standards covers the services and protocols required to achieve such interconnection. This Recommendation I International Standard is positioned with respect to other related Recommendations I International Standards in the set by the layers defined in the Reference Model for

19、Open Systems Interconnection (see IW-T Rec. X.200 I ISOIEC 7498-1). In particular, it is protocol of the presentation layer. It is most closely related to the Presentation Service Definition (see ITU-T Rec. X.216 I ISO/IEC 8822) and the Session Service Definition (see IT-T Rec. X.215 I ISOIEC 8326).

25、rocedures are defined in the main text of this Recommendation I International Standard supplemented by state tables in Annex A. These procedures are applicable to instances of communication between systems which support the Presentation Layer of the OS1 Reference Model and which wish to transfer pre

26、sentation service data units using connectioniess-mode presentation service primitives. This Recommendation I International Standard also specifies conformance criteria for systems implementing these procedures.
