2、gencies in lieu of DDD-S-281K and Interim Amendment 1. 1. SCOPE 1.1 ScoPe. This commercial item description covers cotton and polyester/cotton blend muslin and percale flat bed sheets. 2. CLASSIFICATION 2.1 Classification. The bed sheets shall conform to the following types and sizes, as specified (

3、see 7.3). Type I - Cotton muslin. Type II - Cotton percale. Type III - Polyester/cot.ton blend muslin (30% cotton, minimum). Type IV - 50% polyester/50% cotton blend percale. SALIENT CHARACT

5、ERISTICS 3.1. Standard commercial moduct. The sheet shall, as a minimum, be in accordance with the requirements of this commercial item description and shall be the manufacturer s standard commercial Beneficial comments, recommendations, additions, deletions, clarifications, etc. and any data which

The fabric shall meet the performance requirements for durable press muslin or percale, all-cotton or polyester/c

8、otton blend, non-flannel, woven sheeting as defined in ASTM D 5431. The fabric shall meet the durable press dimensional change requirements defined in ASTM D 5431 when tested in accordance with AATCC 96 wash method Vc and drying method D. The fabric shall be bleached white or dyed as specified (see

9、7.3). For medical use or when otherwise specified, the sheet shall be a 50% polyester/50% cotton blend, 128 muslin count (68 ends, 60 picks) or 180 percale count (74 minimum count in one direction) (see 7.3). For medical use the sheet shall be dyed gray-green, FED-STD-595B shade 34148. 3.3 Fabricati

10、on. The design and construction of the sheet shall include all materials and processes necessary to produce a functional, durable, attractive finished bed sheet meeting, as a minimum, the requirements stated in this commercial item description. Each sheet shall be made from one piece of fabric and s

11、hall have four square cut corners. The edges of the sheet shall be hemmed using normal commercial practices. The side edges of the sheet may be finished with a fast selvage instead of hemming. All hems shall be straight and uniform in width. Hems shall be sewn so that no raw edges, run-Offs, twists,

12、 pleats, puckers, or open seams result. Stitches and stitch tension shall be uniform. Ends of stitching shall be secured to prevent hems opening and unraveling during laundering. 3.4 Thread. Thread color shall match the color of the cloth. When specified, to identify polyester/cotton blend fiber con

13、tent, the color of the thread used to sew the top and bottom hems shall be orange, FED-STD-595B shade 22510 (see 7.3). 3.5. Fiber identification. Each sheet shall be labeled for fiber content in accordance with the Rules and Regulations cited under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. 3.6.

14、 Care label. A permanent care label, in accordance with ASTM D 3938, shall be attached to each sheet. The label shall be sewn into a hem near a corner. The marking on the label shall be permanent to laundering. All information required on the label shall be completely visible on the sewn in label. 3

15、.7 Markinq. Each sheet shall be marked on one hem with the 7 dimensions and fiber content of the sheet using characters approximately 1/8 inch (0.3 cm) high. The marking shall be printed on the sheet or provided on a sewn in label. All marking shall 3 meet the same colorfastness requirements specifi

16、ed in ASTM D 5431. 3.7.1 SDecial Markinq. Marking shall be approximately 1/8 inch (0.3 cm) in height (except for the ilU.S.ll and caduceus which shall be 3/16 to 1/2 inch (5 to 13 mm) in height) and shall be positioned on the top hem, in one cor

18、ner of the sheet. When required for medical procurement, each sheet shall be marked on the hem, near the other marking, with a caduceus of appropriate size centered between the letters “U” and “S”. Marking, except for medical procurement, may be printed on the sheet or provided on a sewn in label. M

19、arking for medical procurement shall be printed on the sheet. All marking shall meet the same colorfastness requirements specified in ASTM D 5431. 3.8 WorkmanshiD. The bed sheet shall function for the purpose intended. No defects affecting appearance or serviceability shall be permitted. The fabric

20、shall be free from any defects such as holes, tears, misweaves, spots, stains, streaks; broken or missing yarn, yarn count not as specified, fiber content not as specified, selvage not as specified,-color not as specified, or objectionable odor. The finished sheet shall be free of any defects such a

21、s dimensions not as specified, sheet made of multiple pieces of fabric, thread not as specified, loose stitches, tight stitches, skipped stitches, hem not as specified, raw edges, unstitched area on hem, end of stitching not secured, needle chew, or mend. 3.9 Measurement svstem. The values stated in

22、 inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The metric values stated in parentheses are for information purposes only. 3.10 Metric Droducts. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured usinq I inch-pound units, provided -they fall

The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quali

The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 6. PACKAGING 6.1 Packasinq. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the con

28、tract or order. 7. NOTES 7.1 Part Identification Number (PIN). Sheets conforming to this commercial item description shall be identified bv a part number configuration consisting of identification of a prtin of the CID number, type, and size. The following part identification numbering-procedure is
