2、 VERSION: 2 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology 1. Purpose The purpose of this test is to evaluate water seal provided by sealants used in GMDAT vehicles. 2. Application Scope This standard applies to water seal evaluation of sealants for paint and body used in all GMDAT vehicles. 3. Test Sample Collection

3、and Quantity 3.1. Collect necessary quantity of samples for testing from lots that are judged to have equivalent quality and place them in a sealed container that does not allow evaporation. Stir well before using for testing to ensure uniformity. 3.2. Initial approval test and acceptance inspection

4、: At least 3 samples shall be used for quality evaluation test. For periodic quality control testing one or more sample shall be tested. 4. Test Equipment 4.1. Water Seal Tester: Use the steel panel used in GMDAT (Type I defined in KS D 3512, cold compressed steel panel of thickness 1.0mm) as assemb

5、led as in the following Figure. 4.2 Dryer: Hot air circulation type that maintains steady temperature shall be used. Test Sample Preparation Apply test sample on the water seal tester where pieces touch each other in the form of a band of diameter about 12mm. Maintain le

7、vel with test sample up for 15 minutes in room temperature. For room temperature hardening type sealant, leave the tester again in room temperature for 48 hours. For heated hardening type, heat the tester in the dryer, which is kept at 1402 for 30 minutes, followed by cooling in room temperature for

8、 testing. 5.2. Test Method Seal off both end cracks of water seal tester with putty, fill the tester with water in room temperature and leave it for 24 hours. Then observe if any water has leaked. 6. Evaluation Record water leakage for each of 3 samples. 7. Code Nomenclature 7.1.
