It is recommended, however, that the lighter, more sensitive depth reading Rockwell A scale be used when testing washers of thin section. Decarburiza- tion shall be removed before testing ha

Temper Test: Washers after being compressed to a height equal to the actual material thickness plus 0.005 inch (0.13 mm), then released, shall have a free height greater than the compressed height. Compression shall b

20、e acomplished between parallel flat surfaces for flat varieties of tooth washers and between mating countersunk holes and cones for countersunk tooth washers. Clamping Test for Plated Washers: Washers shall be clamped to a height equal to the actual material thickness plus 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) for a

21、 period of 24 hours without breaking. The clamping shall be accomplished between parallel flat surfaces for flat varieties of tooth washers and between mating countersunk holes and cones for countersunk tooth washers. Twist Test: Requirements shall be as specified in ANSI B18.21.1 (illustrated below

22、). 6.0 Finish: Plated washers shall be baked four hours at 400F as soon as practicable after plating in order to relieve hydrogen or acid embrittlement. If washers so treated fail to meet the prescribed tests, the baking time and/or the temperature shall be increased. SEPT 1975 Product Engineerlng P

Runout: Runout between the inside and outside diameters defined above shall be held

25、within a total indicator reading equal to the total allowance permitted on the inside diameter. Flatness measurement: Difference of thickness measured by the separation of two parallel surfaces and thickness measured by a micrometer at midwall shall not exceed flatness tolerance.
