Conditioning and Test Conditions All test

8、 values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5% relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure Method “A“ for Sewn Trim Assemblies 1. Using the mate

9、rial to be tested, prepare the test assembly in line with the design released for production. 2. Cut 4 warp or wales specimens each 250 x 300 mm in size with the longer dimension parallel to the weft or courses direction, and 4 weft or courses specimens with the longer dimension parallel to the warp

10、 or wales direction. 3. Sew 2 pairs of warp or wales specimens and 2 pairs of weft or courses specimens with the sewn seams parallel to the longer dimension (as shown in drawing). Tie the loose ends of the stitching threads at either end. The ends of the stitching threads may also be secured by sewi

11、ng an adjacent piece of fabric or sealing the thread ends with adhesive. 4. Bring the flexing arm of the tester into a mid-point position, and clamp the test specimen assembly in with the 300 mm side parallel to the clamps. 5. Adjust the tester for a stroke length of 89 mm. 6. Apply the 13.6 kg-forc

12、e weights to the 300 mm test specimen width. Flex speci

13、mens for 10,000 cycles. Sewn-Seam Construction The stitch shall be a simple lock stitch with a stitch length of 4.2 5.1 mm (5 6 stitches/25 mm) and shall run approximately 10 mm from the cut edges of the test specimen. Evaluation Examine specimens for needle hole enlargement, seam separation and any

14、 other deterioration/deformation of the material (fabric, vinyl coated, etc.). Method “B“ for Dielectrically Welded Trim Assemblies 1. From a trim assembly released for production and dielectrically welded under normal production conditions, two specimens are cut out 250 x 300 mm in size, one along

15、the seam line and the other one at right angles to it. 2. Proceed further as per Method “A“ No. 5 - 8. Evaluation Examine specimens for failure e.g. separation or any other deterioration of the welded seams. In addition, the loss of bond strength of the welded seam must be computed and quoted as a p

16、ercent value. The evaluation of bond strength must be done according to Ford Laboratory Test Method BN 151-01. Compute the bond strength loss as follows: Bond strength loss % = N1 N2 x 100 % N1 Where: N1 = bond strength in the original condition N2 = bond strength after the flex-fold test Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly.
