SCOPEThe material defined
2、 by this specification is an amino modified thermo-setting acrylic resin, in the form of finely divided particles dispersedin a non-aqueous solvent, which is a pigmented baking gl oss enamel suitablefor exterior exposure.2. APPLICATIONThis spe cification was released originally for paint used as the
3、 finalcolor co at on automotive bodies, hood, fenders and other exterior parts,and shal l be satisfactory for use over specified primer, enamel sealers,or over-baked enamel, as in repair or tu-toning operations.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 COMPOSITION3.1.1 Vehicle SolidsThe vehicle solids shall be melamine mo
4、dified acrylicpoly mers with minor amounts of other modifiers and/orplasticizers. No alkyd resin modification is permitted.3.1.2 PigmentShall be balanced and blended so that the finished enamelmatc hes the Ford Motor Company master panel in color andluster and meets the requirements of this specific
5、ation fordurabili ty. Any color which contains 70% or more aluminummetal flake pigment in its pigment composition shall besuppli ed with 2% Tinuvin 328 or Uvinol 400 ultravioletabsorber, based on the vehicle solids of the color.3.1.3 Specific CompositionWhen it is necessary to obtain specific data r

7、vel out satisfactorily on spray application. T he volatilityof the solvents is to b e selected to provide a dried film of0.00 150 in (38.1 Fm) minimum without sagging and withsatisf actory freedom from roughness or dry spray. Thevolatile portion shall contain sufficient active solvents togive satisf
8、actory adhes ion when the enamel is applied over apreviously baked coat of the enamel.3.1.5 Volatile Organic Compound (V.O.C.) at Application ViscosityCalculate V.O.C. as follows:V.O.C. = % Volatile x lb/gal-100The pe rcent volatile is determined per ASTM D 2369 exceptth at the oven exposure time sh

11、0 3.1.6 Specific CompositionSuppliers shall furnish, on request, certification ofconformance to para 3.1.4 of this specification to Ford MotorCompa ny Purchasing, AAD Paint Operations, and the assemblyplant involved for each color supplied.3.1.7 ToxicityThe enamels shall conta in no benzol (benzene)
12、 chlorinated orother toxic compounds, or hydrolyzable chlorine derivativesor have an obnoxious or objectionable odor.3.2 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES3.2.1 Viscosity (Package)(FLTM BI 11-1)25 +/- 5 s #4 Ford Cup, at 23 +/- 2 EC during first 30 daysafter manufacture, 50 s maximum after 90 days.3.2.2 Shelf Stab

20、happro priate thinner to 0.0010 in (25 Fm) total dry filmthickne ss. Bake primer 20 min at 163 EC metal temperature foradhesion tests per para 3.5.3 and 20 min at 149 EC (8 minminimum at 135 EC metal temperature) for all other tests.Sand 1/2 of one panel for adhesion tests only.3.3.2 EnamelAp ply en
21、amel reduced to 18 +/- 2 s #4 Ford Cup at 25 EC with 90 % Gage 4104 and 10% Gage 4120 to a dry film thickness of0.0 015-0.0020 in (38 - 51 Fm) (enamel only). Bake per para3.3.6.3.3.3 Electrocoat Primer-Enamel SystemApply a currently approved electrocoat primer to a dry filmthickness of 0.0070 +/- 0.

Standard bake 17 min a t 129 EC - ambient. Minimum 8 min at 118 EC plus an
