SCOPE: 1.1 This standard provides the requirements for conduit fittings used throughout Ford Motor Company to connect conduit to conduit, enclosures, panels or boxes. 2. GENERAL 3.1 Conduit fittings shall be made of malleable or ductile cast iron. Gray iron is not acceptable. Dimensions, wall thicknesses and materials shall

4、be in compliance with the standards referenced in item 2.1. All fittings and covers shall be be durably and legibly marked with the manufacturers name or trademark, and any applicable testing agency symbols, listing and certification numbers. 3.2 Conduit fittings, covers and gaskets shall be UL List

5、ed and CSA Certified as may be required for conformance to the National Electric Code, OSHA and other local electrical codes. 3.3 Conduit fitting threads shall be tapered and conform to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 3.4 Fittings and fitting covers shall be sufficiently plated to with- stand a 100 hour salt spra

6、y test conducted in accordance with ASTM B 117. 3.5 Covers used on fittings may be sheet steel, but shall not be less than 1.8 mm (0.07 in) thick. 3.6 Retaining screws and gaskets used on fitting covers shall be captive to the cover when not assembled to the fitting. 3.7 Gaskets and “0“ rings shall

7、use an oil resistant synthetic material. Paper and cork cover gaskets are not acceptable. Cover gaskets shall be 1.6 mm (l/16 in) thick minimum. FORD MANUFACTURING STANDARD EEl DECEMBER 1992 . . . CONDUIT FITTINGS EEl Page 2 -i ! ;.: 4. RIGID CONDUIT FITTINGS 4.1 Rigid conduit fittings are used to c

8、onnect conduit to conduit. Six types are available as shown in Appendix A. 5. HEX REDUCING BUSHINGS 5.1 Hex head reducers are used for reducing the size of openings in electrical enclosures and conduit fittings to allow use of smaller diameter conduits. 5.2 External thread length shall be sufficient

9、 to accommodate an oil resistant “0“ ring and retainer, a box thickness of 1.8 mm (0.07 id, a locknut, and a minimum of two full threads for a bushing. 5.3 The shoulder of the hex flange shall be flat, free of burrs, and of sufficient width to provide adequate backup support for an oil resistant “0“

10、 ring retainer. 5.4 Hex head reducers and sizes available are shown in Appendix A, figure 7. 6. CORNER ELL FITTINGS 6.1 Corner ell fittings are used with either rigid or flexible conduit to provide short radius bends and convenient right angle entrances to control panels, junction boxes and other el

11、ectrical enclosures. 6.2 Each corner ell fitting shall be furnished as a complete assembly including the corner ell casting, cover, cover retaining screws and gasket. For female to male corner ell fittings, the male thread shall also be furnished with a locknut. 6.3 Corner ell fittings and sizes ava

12、ilable are shown in Appendix A, figure 8. 7. RIGID CONDUIT HUBS 7.1 Rigid conduit hubs are used provide a liquid tight fit between enclosures and conduit or related fittings. 7.2 Rigid conduit hubs shall be the female bushed nipple type with recessed “0“ ring or oil resistant gasket seal in the part

13、 of the fitting that mounts outside the enclosure. Sizes are available are shown in Appendix A, figures 9 and 10.
