With reference to climatic and mechanical conditions, this section has been prepared following the general indications of IEC Guide 106 and the general classification of environmental conditions given in IEC 721, in particular in IEC 721-3-1, IEC 721-3-2, IEC 721-3-3 and IEC 721-3-4; in add

As regards corrosive and erosive influences, reference is only made to IEC 654-4, developed for industrial process measurement and control equipment, considered applicable also to telecontrol equipment and systems and to other equipment and systems included in t

15、This section of IEC 870-2 applies to telecontrol equipment and systems with coded bit serial data transmission for monitoring and control of geographically widespread processes. It is also a reference standard for teleprotection equipment and systems and for equipment included in a distribution line

16、 carrier (DLC) communication system supporting a distribution automation system (DAS) and also for associated communications such as power line carrier. This section specifies classes for environmental conditions (climatic, mechanical and other non-electrical influences) under which the various comp

17、onents of the systems have to operate. Particular conditions directly related to fire and explosion hazards and to ionizing radiation are not considered. Detailed specifications for any other environmental conditions (including those related to mobile installations), not covered in this section but

18、relevant for the proper operation and life of the equipment, are matters for negotiation between user and supplier. 2 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this section of IEC 870-2. 25、ic conditions (air temperature, humidity and pressure, rain, snow, ice, solar radiation, etc.) to which the equipment and systems may be exposed during operation, during periods when they are installed but inactive (e.g. during maintenance and repair), and during storage or transportation. Each clas

26、s considers a severity level or a set of severity levels for the various environmental climatic parameters: the severity levels are intended, according to the definition given in the IEC 721 series, as values having a low probability of being outside of the limits (e.g. 1 %). According to the recomm

27、endations of Guide 106, the classes reported in this section of IEC 870-2 are taken from the complete list of classes reported in IEC 721, taking into account the most common climatic conditions applicable to the equipment and systems object of this section. With reference to operational and storage

28、 conditions, table 1 lists the parameters of the classes chosen for the above-mentioned equipment and systems, with reference to four types of location defined in the following; annex A shows the climatograms giving the interdependence of air temperature, relative humidity, absolute humidity and an

29、example of application. Table 2 gives an additional classification with reference to transportation conditions. Since it is recognized that extreme or special environmental conditions not covered by the normal classes may exist, tables 1 and 2 consider, for each type of location, a “special class. S

30、pecifications for equipment to operate under special“ conditions are a matter for negotiation between user and supplier; however, it is recommended to choose classes from the IEC 721 series. 31、e following types of location are considered: Weather Drotected locations: - class A: air-conditioned locations; - class 6: heated and/or cooled enclosed locations; - class C: sheltered locations. Non-weatherDrotected locations: - class D: outdoor locations. 3.2.1 Air-conditioned locations (class A)

32、 For air-conditioned locations (class A), both air temperature and humidity are controlled within specified limits. These locations are frequently provided for control centres and other electronic equipment requiring a controlled climatic environment. 3.2.2 Heated andor cooled enclosed locations (cl

33、ass B) for heated and/or cooled enclosed locations (class B), only air temperature is controlled within specified limits. Equipment rooms are generally in this class. Storage of equipment is frequently in a heated - andor cooled enclosed location. Heating and cooling are not generally available duri

34、ng = transportation. Enclosed means of transportation are normally considered “as sheltered locations“ (class C). = 3.2.3 Sheltered locations (class C) For sheltered locations (class C), neither air temperature nor humidity are controlled; the equipment is only protected against direct solar radiati

35、on, rainfall, other precipitations and wind. E - _. - I - * * rn In the sheltered locations neither heating nor cooling is normally provided. Ventilation, if any, is usually by natural means. Low temperatures may be as low as those of outdoor atmospheric conditions; high temperatures may be consider

36、ably greater than those of outdoor atmospheric conditions (due to solar radiation action on the shelter and heat generated by the equipment). Occasional condensation due to rapid temperature changes can occur; in addition, since the shelter may not be completely sealed, equipment in these locations

37、can be subjected to wind- driven precipitation, dripping water, water spray and dust. Typical sheltered locations are kiosks for operating instruments, unheated warehouses for storage and hard-top transport vehicles. It may be noted that in some types of warehouses (and occasionally in other shelter

38、ed locations), humidity may give rise to condensation on stored equipment. Remote terminal units, transmitters and receivers are often installed in sheltered locations. - Page 8 EN 60870-2-2 : 1996 3.2.4 Outdoor locations (class O) For outdoor locations (class D), neither air temperature nor humidit

39、y are controlled and the equipment is exposed to natural atmospheric conditions such as direct solar radiation, wind, rain, hail, sleet, snow, frost, ice and dust. Equipment may be subject to occasional condensation due to rapid temperature changes. Of particular importance is the temperature gradie

40、nt between sunny and shaded areas of exposed equipment (for instance, apparatus which has been exposed to direct sunlight may suddenly be subjected to rainfall). Remote terminal units, transmitters and receivers are occasionally installed in outdoor locations. Some locations for transportation (e.g.

41、 open decks of ships, non-pressured planes) can also be included in class D. 3.3 Classes of climatic parameters The following recommendations apply to the parameters given in tables 1 and 2 for the various climatic classes. 3.3.1 Temperature, humidity, solar radiation, condensation, wind, rain, snow

42、, frost, ice Air temperature shall be considered as location temperature measured at a representative point within the local environment, including adjacent heat-generating equipment. It shall be taken into account that solar radiation may increase the temperature on the surface of equipment. Simila

43、r considerations apply to humidity measurement. When much equipment is concentrated in one place, the actual air temperature and the corresponding relative humidity may differ locally from the air temperature and humidity at the representative point, due to the heat generated by the equipment. The m

44、anufacturer should specify the amount of heat generated by the equipment, so that adequate measures can be taken to dissipate this heat. Solar radiation is specified for all locations; however, for classes A and B this consideration can be limited to equipment located near windows. The occurrence of

45、 condensation, wind-driven precipitation and formation of ice is also specified. 3.3.2 Air pressure Some variation of air pressure can result from weather conditions; major variations are, in general, the result of altitude. Artificial pressurization may increase environmental pressure in certain lo

46、cations. 47、a. The low value corresponds to an altitude of 3 O00 m; air pressures other than those specified is a matter of negotiation between user and supplier (e.g. transportation by plane).
