Thestandardprovides

28、forthedeterminationoferosionwhenrequired. NOTE1 Theprooftrackingindexisusedasanacceptancecriterionaswellasameansforthequalitycontrolof materialsandfabricatedparts.Thecomparativetrackingindexismainlyusedforthebasiccharacterizationand comparisonofthepropertiesofmaterials. Testresultscannotbeuseddirect

29、lyfortheevaluationofsafecreepagedistanceswhen designingelectricalapparatus. NOTE2 Thistestdiscriminatesbetweenmaterialswithrelativelypoorresistancetotracking,andthosewith moderateorgoodresistance,foruseinequipmentwhichcanbeusedundermoistconditions.Moreseveretests, oflongerdurationarerequiredfortheas

NOTE Thenumberofdropsneededtocausefailurebytrackingusuallyincreaseswithdecreasingappliedvoltage and,belowacriticalvalue,trackingceasestooccur. 5 Testspecimen Anyapproximatelyflatsurfacemaybeused,providedthattheareaissufficienttoensurethat duringthetes

43、tnoliquidflowsovertheedgesofthetestspecimen. NOTE1 Flatsurfacesofnotlessthan20mm 20mmarerecommendedtoreducetheprobabilityofelectrolyte lossoverthespecimenedgealthoughsmallersizesmaybeused,subjecttonoelectrolyteloss,e.g.ISO3167, 15mm15mmmultipurposetestspecimens. NOTE2 Itispreferabletouseseparatetest
