This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2001, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn

Page 3 EN 13088:2001 1 Scope This European Standard specifies a method for determining the total mass of a product solely filled with feather and/or down and the mass of the filling material. 2 Normative refere

21、tions apply. 3.1 product filled with feather andlor down finished article, like a pillow, a cushion, a quilt, a sleeping bag, a garment as well as any other product solely filled with feather and/or down 3.2 total mass total mass of the product including the mass of the filling material 3.3 filling

22、feather and/or down contained within the casing 3.4 filling material mass the mass of the loose material used to fill the product 4 Principle A preconditioned product filled with feather and/or down is weighed, its filling is completely removed and the empty product is weighed again. The mass of the

23、 filling is calculated by the difference of the two weighings. 5 Apparatus 5.1 Balance with an accuracy of at least 0,5 g - STD-BSI BS EN 13086-ENGL 200L m lb24bb9 0907334 b49 = Page 4 EN 13088:2001 5.2 Vacuum cleaner, appropriate size, having cuff icient capacity to contain the volume of filling in

24、 the product. 5.3 Scissors 5.4 Tweezers 6 Sampling and conditioning 6.1 Take sample(s) in accordance with EN 1883. 6.2 Condition the sample) in accordance with EN 20139. Determine the temperature and relative humidity in accordance with EN 20187. 7 Testing 7.1 Carry out the testing in a standard atm

25、osphere described in EN 201 39. 7.2 Weigh the filled product using the balance (5.1), recording the result (m,) to the nearest 1 g for filled products of mass e 1 O00 g, and to the nearest 10 g for filled products having a mass 2 1000 g. 7.3 Open the filled product and remove all the filling by mean

26、s of a vacuum cleaner (5.2). Turn the casing inside out and check that no feather and/or down elements stick to the fabric. Remove all the sticking parts of feather and down using tweezers (5.4). 7.4 Weigh the empty case using the balance (5.1), recording the result (m,) to the same precision as in

27、7.2. 7.5 In case different types of filling materials are used in the same finished product, the mass of each type of filling material has to be separately determined. 7.6 Repeat the tests from 7.1 to 7.4 on another test specimen. 8 Calculation and expression of results 8.1 Calculate the mass of the

28、 filling (m,) in grams with an approximation to * 1 g applying the following formula: m,= m,- ng where: 3 m, m, is the mass of the filling, in grams; is the total mass of the finished filled product, in grams; is the mass of the case ater removal of the filling material, in grams; 8.2 Calculate the

29、mean of the mass of the filling in grams with the approximation stated in 7.2. Page 5 EN 13088:2001 9 Test report The test report shall supply the following information: the reference to this standard; a description of the filled product; a description of the filling material; the number of tested p

30、roducts; the total mass of the product to the nearest: lg log if mass e 1000 g if mass 2 1000 g. If several different products have been tested, a total mass is given for each product type; - the mass of the filling material to the nearest whole gram; -any deviation from the testing method.
