This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by December 1999, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by December 19

17、ortugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Introduction This standard specifies permitted deviations and preferential sizes for sawn timber used in industrial packaging. A range of cross-sections likely to be readily available is given to assist both producers and users. Preferentia

18、l sizes are recommended for the manufacture of industrial packaging. They are considered as basic sizes at a moisture content of 20 %. The standard also stipulates the use of electric moisture meters for the measurement of moisture content. This reference moisture content of 20 % does not prevent ma

19、nufachuers from manufacturing industrial packaging with either dry or green timber. 1 Scope This standard specifies permitted deviations (due to variability in sawing and processing) from target thicknesses and widths for sawn timber used in industrial packaging when measured at a defined reference

20、moisture content. It also gives preferential sizes of this timber. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications. The reference moisture content for measurement is 20 %. 5 Changes in size due to changes in moisture content Unless there is evidence to the contrary, it shall be assumed that the thickness and w

29、idth of a piece of timber increase by 0,25 % for every 1 % of moisture content from 20 % up to 30 %, and decrease by 0,25 % for every 1 % of moisture content below 20 %.
