、signed to serve the public interest through eliminating misunderstandings between manufacturers and purchasers, facilitating interchangeability and improvement of products, and assisting the purchaser in selecting and obtaining with minimum delay the proper product for his particular need. Existence
、 of such Standards and Publications shall not in any respect preclude any member or nonmember of EIA from manufacturing or selling products not conforming to such Standards and Publications, nor shall the existence of such Standards and Publications preclude their voluntary use by those other than E
、M members, whether the standard is to be used either domestically or internationally. Recommended Standards and Publications are adopted by EIA without regard to whether their adoption may involve patents on articles, materials, or processes. By such action, EIA does not assume any liability to any
、patent owner, nor does it assume any obligation whatever to parties adopting the Recommended Standard or Publication. This EIA Standard is considered to have International Standardization implication, but the International Electrotechnical Commission activity has not progressed to the point where a
、valid comparison between the EM Standard and the IEC document can be made. This Standard does not purport to address all safety problems associated with its use or all applicable regulatory requirements, It is the responsibility of the user of this Standard to establish appropriate safety and health

、 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20006 PRICE: Please refer to the current Catalog of EM : .O50 Crystal outlines are grouped by size and configurations into families of similarity. The families are designated by a class symbol consisting of the letters CO followed by a serial number (thus CO
、- 1, CO-2, etc.). Within a class of crystal outlines there will be many variations and certain constants. The constants of any class are delineated on the drawing. The variations are listed in the table accompanying the drawing. The variations in any class pertain to the dimensions of leads and pins
、 and to the height of the enclosure. An identiwng number is assigned to each variant of Itads and to each cover height. A complete part number consists of the class symbol, the pin number and the cover height number in sequence. The following partia1 table is extracted from CO-6 for purposes of illu
、stration. MAX. t+ .757 1 -352br In the example CO-6-01-01 and CO-6-02-01 would differ only in that the first has socketable pins while the . second has short wire leads. CO-6-01-01 and CO-6-01-02 would be socketed identically but would be of different heights. The principle employed in standardizing
、 leads is to provide the socketed pin if it exists and solderable wire leads to allow point-to-point wiring, erect soldering into a board and soldering into a board with the unit laid down on the board, if all are feasible. 3234600 007b751 7 = - EIA-417-A Page 3 Where two outlines differ only in the
、 number of leads or in the location of the same number of leads the outlines are assigned to different classes. These cases are noted in the cross reference information. 4. AMENDMENTS AND ADDITIONS The procedures of the Electronic Industries Association require periodic review of all standards. It m
、ay occur that a new class, lead, or cover is required to be standardized in the intervening period. Standardization action is indicated when the second source or the third user of a given tooled configuration is identified. A person recognizing the need for addition to or amendment of this standard
、is invited to address a letter requesting this action to the Engineering Department of the Electronic Industries Association. Action on individual classes may be undertaken at any time, as necessary. 5. CROSS-REFERENCE CHART (SS = Solder Seal (GL = Glass CW = Cold Weld) RW = Resistance Weld) Class S
