This military standard is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the 2. and long-haul communications, but later evolved through revisions (MIL-STD-l88A, MIL-STD- 188B) into a document applicable to tactical communications only (MIL-S
4、TD- 188C). Originally, Military Standard 188 (MIL-STD-188) covered technical standards for tactical 3. promulgating standards and engineering criteria applicable to the long-haul Defense Communi- cation System and to the technical support of the National Military Command System. The Defense Informat
5、ion Systems Agency (DISA) published DISA circulars (DISAC), 4. As a result of a Joint Chiefs of Staff action, standards for all military communications are now being published in a MIL-STD- 188 series of documents. The MIL-STD- 188 series is subdivided into a MIL-STD-188-100 series, covering common
6、standards for tactical and long- haul communications; a MIL-STD- 188-200 series, covering standards for tactical communi- . cations only; and a MIL-STD- 188-300 series, covering standards for long-haul communications only. Emphasis is being placed on developing common standards for tactical and long
7、-haul communications, published in the MIL-STD-188- 1 O0 series. 5. This two-part document contains technical requirements and design objectives for high- altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) protection of ground-based systems and facilities that are nodes in HEMP-hardened networks for performing c
8、ritical and time-urgent command, control, communications, computer, and intelligence (C41) missions. Part 1 of the document addresses HEMP hardening for fixed facilities; this Part 2 addresses transportable systems. The requirements are stringent, in order to avoid both damage and functional upsets
9、that prevent mission accomplishment within operationally prescribed timelines. The standards apply uniformly to ail systems and facilities in the end-to-end chain, since disruption of a single node may result in network failure. 6. the standard.
