The milling machine shall be of the adjustable
6、 knee type, with built-in rotary head. various parts having multiple radii and requiring precise control of the cutting tool for close tolerance work. of a rotating head, column, and base. The base shall enclose the machine gearing mechanisms and serve as a reservoir for the coolant. The machine sha
7、ll be designed for precision milling The machine shall consist basically * 3.2.1 Controls. All operating controls and all manual adjustments shall be readily accessible to the operator, All hand control levers and handwheels shall automatically and positively disengage during power feed and rapid tr
8、averse. The machine movements shall be controllable by infinitely varia- ble and reversible controls which are either manual or electrical. When controls are pendant mounted, the pendant shall swivel to both front and rear of the work table. * 3.2.2 Safety and health requirements. Covers or other sa
9、fety devices shall be provided for all parts of the machine presenting safety hazards which can be guarded without substantial interference to operation of the machine. All guards shall provide easy access to guarded parts. Except as otherwise specified by the procuring activity, the machine shall c
10、omply with the stan- dards promulgated under OSHA applicable to the machine manufacturer. Excep- tions and additional requirements for safety and health shall be as speci- fied (see 6.2.1 and 6.5). 3.2.3 Lubrication. clean supply of oil to all mating gears, sliding parts and bearings except sealed-f
11、or-life type. and remote areas, with controls mounted on the machine convenient to the operator. Fully automatic lubrication of gears and feed screws shall be provided. All reservoirs shall be fitted with oil level sight gages. All oil holes, grease fittings, and filler caps shall be easily accessib

Except as otherwise specified herein, the condition and finish of all surfaces shall be commensurate with the manufacturers standard commercial practice. 3.3.5 Painting
17、. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2.1), the machine shall be painted in accordance with the manufacturers standard commercial practice. 3.3.6 Threads. All threaded parts shall be in the inch system and shall conform to Handbook H28. I * 3.3.7 Dials. Al1 feedscrew dials shall be graduated in the in
18、ch system. Graduations to indicate stock removal or tool movement shall be .- in incre- ments of not more than 0.001 inch.
