SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This document covers po

2、lyester/cotton broadcloth treated with a durable press finish. 1.2 Classification. The cloth should be of the following classes, as specified (see 6.2). Class 1 - 3.5 to 4 oz. - Blue 1550 Class 2 - 3.5 to 4 oz. - White 3060 Class 3 - 3.8 to 4.3 oz. - Blue 1550 Class 4 - 3.8 to 4.3 oz. - Blue 1550 Cl

In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applic

20、able laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to the first article inspection (see 6.3) in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Standard sample. The finished cloth shall match the standard sample

21、for shade and appearance and shall be equal to or better than the standard sample with respect to all characteristics for which the standard sample is referenced (see 6.4). 3.3 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials

22、should be used to the maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. The use of recycled fiber in the production of this fabric is prohibited. 3.3.1 Fibers. 3.3.1.1 Polyester f

23、iber. The fiber shall be an environmentally acceptable polyethylene terephthalate. 3.3.1.2 Cotton. The cotton shall be carded and combed. 24、ester and cotton, drawn and spun in single yarns for both warp and filling. The finished cloth shall contain 65 percent + 5 percent polyester and the remaining percentage cotton, based on the dry weight of the desized specimen. Tests shall be made as specified in 4.3.3. 3.4 Color. The color of the d

25、yed and finished cloth shall be as follows: Class 1, 3, or 4 Blue 1550 Class 2 White 3060 Class 3 Green 415 Class 6 Blue 3379 The color for classes 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 shall be obtained by weaving with dyed and white yarns (see 3.5.2.) 3.4.1 Labile sulfur. The use of dyes and components containing ele

26、mentary sulfur capable of oxidation to sulfuric acid is prohibited. The dyestuff shall be chosen and applied so that the dyed and finished cloth shall contain no more labile sulfur than shown by the standard sample when tested as specified in 4.3.3. When a standard sample is not available, the dyed

27、and finished cloth shall show no more than a slight trace of labile sulfur when tested as specified in 4.3.3. 3.4.2 Matching. The color of the finished cloth shall match the standard sample when viewed under filtered tungsten lamps that approximate artificial daylight and that have a correlated colo

28、r temperature of 7500 + 200K (Kelvin), with illumination of 100 + 20 foot-candles and shall be a good match to the standard sample under incandescent lamp at 2300 + 200K. 3.4.3 Colorfastness. The dyed and finished cloth shall show fastness to laundering (after 3 cycles), perspiration, light, and dry

29、 heat equal to or better than the standard sample or equal to or better than a rating of 3.0. The dyed and finished cloth shall show fastness to crocking equal to or better than the standard sample or shall have an AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale rating for crocking not lower than 3.5. Testing sh

30、all be as specified in 4.3.3. 3.5 Physical requirements. The finished cloth shall conform to the requirements specified in Table I when tested as specified in 4.3.3. Classes 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 cloth shall be of an end-and-end construction with alternate dyed and white warp yarns and with an all white filling. The C

33、lass 2 cloth shall be woven with all white yarns. 3.5.3 Width. The width of the cloth shall be as specified (see 6.2), and shall be the minimum acceptable width inclusive of selvages when fly shuttle looms are used, and exclusive of selvages and fringe when shuttleless looms are used. 3.6 Finish. Th

34、e cloth shall be scoured, singed, stabilized, mercerized, and bleached when required to result in a smooth and lustrous finish equal in character to that of the standard sample. In addition, the cloth shall be given an approved durable press treatment (see 6.2), and shall be processed and cured to m

35、eet the requirements of this document. 3.7 Nonfibrous material. The starch and protein content, prior to application of the durable press treatment shall not exceed 2.0 percent when tested as specified in 4.3.3. 3.8 Appearance rating. The finished cloth shall have an appearance rating of not less th

36、an 3.5 when tested after five launderings as specified in 4.3.3. The finished and cured cloth shall have dimensional changes of not more than 2.0 percent in e

37、ither the warp or filling direction when tested as specified in 4.3.3. The preshrinking process used shall not be identified by name or trademark either on the cloth, ticket, or package. 3.10 pH. The pH value of the water extract of the finished cloth shall be no less than 5.0 nor more than 8.5 when

38、 tested as specified in 4.3.3. 3.11 Seam efficiency. The finished cloth shall have a seam efficiency of not less than 85 percent when tested as specified in 4.3.3. 3.12 Length and put-up. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the cloth shall be furnished in continuous lengths, each not less than 40

39、yards. Each length shall be put-on on full width rolls as specified in 5.1. 3.13 Fiber identification. Each roll of cloth shall be labeled or ticketed for fiber content in accordance with the Rules and Regulations under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. 3.13.1 Marking. The face side of

40、the cloth shall be identified by applying a stamping on that side of the cloth with the word “FACE” at each end of the piece. 3.14 Workmanship. The finished cloth shall conform to the quality established by this specification. The demerit points per 100 square yards, when calculated as specified in

41、Section 4 shall not exceed the established maximum point value. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.2) b. Conformance inspection (see 4.3.) 4.2 First article inspection. When a fi

42、rst article is required (see 3.1 and 6.2), it shall be examined for the defects specified in 4.3. 4.3 Conformance inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this specification or a

44、pplicable purchase document. 4.3.2 End item examination. 4.3.2.1 Yard-by-yard examination. Each roll in the sample shall be examined on the face side only. When the total yardage in the roll does not exceed 100 yards, the entire yardage in the roll shall be examined. When the total yardage in the ro

45、ll exceeds 100 yards, only 100 yards shall be examined. All defects are defined in Section 1 of FED-STD-4, which are clearly noticeable at normal inspection distance (3 feet), shall be scored and assigned demerit points as listed in 4.3.2 except that only those slubs and knots which exceed the limit

46、s shown on Sears Fabric Defect Scales (see 6.5), E for slubs and B for knots, shall be scored. No linear yards (increments of 1 yard on the measuring device of the inspection machine) from any one roll within the sample shall be penalized more than four points. The sample size shall be 20 rolls sele

47、cted from 20 containers. The lot shall be unacceptable if the points per square yards of the total yardage examined exceeds 20.0 points. The lot shall be unacceptable if the points per square yards of two or more individual rolls exceeds 30.0 points. If one roll exceeds 30.0 points per square yards,

48、 a second sample of 20 rolls shall be examined only for individual roll quality. The lot shall be unacceptable if one or more rolls in the second sample exceeds the point level.
