1、 INCH-POUND A-A-59924 6 June 2013 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION BARBED TAPE, CONCERTINA (WIRE REINFORCED LONG BARB) The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description for all Federal Agencies. 1. SCOPE. This Commercial Item Description (CID) covers concertin

2、a barb tape for barb tape entanglements. These entanglements may serve as a security barrier for low security confinement and detention applications, low level utility companies, and airport perimeters, etc. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. 2.1 Material. The concertina barbed tape shall be made of materi

3、al as specified below and shall be subject to all provisions of this CID: a. Barbed tape Stainless steel per ASTM A240/A240M, Type 430 or galvanized steel per ASTM A653/A653M. b. Core wire Stainless steel per ASTM A580/A580M, 300 Series, minimum tensile strength 140,000 psi or galvanized steel per A

4、STM A764, Finish 2, Class II, Type B minimum tensile strength 220,000 psi. 2.2 Design and construction. Concertina barbed tape furnished under this CID shall conform to the dimensions and design characteristics as specified herein, in Figure 1 and in Table I. Single coil wire reinforced concertinas

5、18, 24 and 30 inch in diameter are to be fabricated from 0.025 inch thick AISI 430 stainless steel (SS) or ASTM A653/A653M galvanized steel (GA). Each roll shall consist of 31 or 51 coil loops with pairs of loops alternately clipped together at 3 or 5 locations around the circumference dependent upo

6、n diameter. Concertina clip attachments shall be capable of withstanding a minimum pull load of 200 lbs. Clusters of 4 needle sharp barbs shall be located 4 inch on center along the spiral turns. The barb length shall be 2.250 to 2.600 inch tip to tip. Concertina rolls are to be available in combina

7、tions of SS or GA tape and core wire. Barbed tape is to be wrapped 230 degrees around 0.098 inch diameter SS or GA core wire. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 The offerer/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accord

12、ance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS. 4.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and

13、the quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5. PACKAGING. 5.1 Preservation, packing and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. 6. NOTES. 6.1 Unless otherwi

14、se specified, all dimensions are in inches. 6.2 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, packaging shall be in accordance with ASTM D3951. 6.3 The following part or identification numbering procedure is for government purposes and does not constitute a requirement for the contra

15、ctors. The part number identification number (PIN) shall consist of the basic commercial item description number followed by a dash number from Table I.
