1、 A-A-59859 11 January, 2010 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION ROPE CUTTER, ELECTRIC The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description, for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers the requirements for an electric rope cutter which

2、 is used to cut and seal the ends of a rope. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The rope cutter will be furnished in one type and size. 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. The rope cutter shall use an electrically heated blade to cut rope and simultaneously seal both cut ends. The rope cutter shall be the bench mountable t

3、ype. The rope cutter shall operate on 120 volts A.C. The rope cutter shall have an on/off switch and a light that shall indicate when the unit is on. The rope cutter shall be capable of cutting and sealing up to 11millimeters nylon/polyester rope kernmantle (A-A-59835) in one easy movement. The rope

4、 cutter shall provide ease of use with typical combat gloves and be as lightweight as possible, while meeting the standards in this description. The rope cutter blade shall be easily removable for replacement. The rope cutter shall come with one replacement blade (two blades total). 3.1 Testing. The

5、 cutter shall be Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 499 certified. 3.2 Workmanship. The finished rope cutter shall conform to the quality of product established by this document. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the contractors own quality assurance standards and the quality assurance standards

6、defined in the technical data in the solicitation and/or contract. The rope cutter shall have no unexpected material or component failures during periodic use over a five year perio

9、d. 3.4 Labels/barcoding/instruction slip. If applicable, all labeling, barcoding and instruction slip requirements shall be as specified in the solicitation or contract (see 7.2). 3.4.1 Labels. Each rope cutter electric shall have identification label Class 5 conforming to Type VI of MIL-DTL-32075.

10、The color of the label shall be white. The following information shall be included in the printing for the identification label for the rope cutter. ROPE CUTTER, ELECTRIC NSN: XXXX-XX-XXX-XXXX The following instruction information shall be supplied: a. the name or trademark of the manufacturer, impo

11、rter or supplier b. the meaning of any markings on the product c. the use of the product d. how to choose other components for use in the system e. how to maintain and service the product f. the lifespan of the product or how to assess it g. the effects of chemical reagents and temperature on the pr

12、oduct h. the effects of storage and aging i. identification of the model, if more than one model is available 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition

13、Regulation (FAR). 4.1 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements and promotes econom

14、ically advantageous life cycle costs. 5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and b

15、e the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Visual examination.
