SCOPE. This Commercial Item Description c

2、overs the requirements for a disposable trouser of nonwoven, coated, spunbonded olefin fabric, intended primarily for use as part of a protective ensemble used to protect torpedo handlers from exposure to Otto fuels. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Description. The disposable trousers shall be made o

3、f a nonwoven coated, spunbonded olefin fabric and shall be straight leg with an elasticized rubber tape waistband and with no fly opening. The color shall be white. The seams shall be formed by super-imposing two plies of material, folding both the edges back over the body of material and overedging

4、. The minimum and maximum number of stitches per inch shall be 6 and 8 respectively, including the elastic tape waistband fully extended. The stitch gauge and stitch length shall produce adequately durable seams throughout the garment. , 2.2 Material. The basic material shall be white polyethylene c

5、oated spunbonded (nonwoven), nonperforated olefin fabric conforming to the requirements in Table I. The coated side of the fabric shall be the face side. A commercial-type label is acceptable, provided that an additional cloth label containing the contractors name, contract number, size and National Stock Number (NSN), and cautionary statement is placed directly on the trouser by printing, stamping, stenci

13、ling or printed on a pressure sensitive label that adhere to the inside of the garment. Each item shall be individually bar-coded with a paper tag for personal clothing items. The paper tag shall be standard bleached sulfate having a b

15、asis weight of 100 pounds. The paper used for the tags shall have a smooth finish to accept thermal transfer and direct printing. The tags shall have a hole and shall be attached to each item by a fastener, clearly legible and readable by a scanner. The bar coding element shall be a 13 digit nationa

16、l stock number (NSN). The bar code type shall be a medium to high code density and shall be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is folded andor packaged as specified and so that it causes no damage to the item. 2.8 Patterns. The government shall furnish a single size pattern

17、. The contractor is responsible for grading patterns for additional sizes. The pattern generally provides for a seam allowance of 3/8 to 1/2 inch for joining seams. The government patterns shall be used to make the contractors working patterns. Commercial patterns may be used in lieu of the governme

18、nt furnished pattern provided they conform to the cited design and finished measurements. 3. recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use 4.

19、 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assuran

20、ce practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contrac t. 4.2 Market acceptance criteria. The item offered, or a generic equivalent, must have been sold to th

21、e commercial market or to the Government for at least two years. 4.3 Warranty. The item offered shall include the standard warranty given to the commercial market beginning with the date of delivery of the individual items. 4.4 Visual examination. Each trouser shall be examined for the defects liste

22、d below: Defects. Any hole, cut, or tear; color not as specified; any part shaded; any spot or stain (outside); raw edys, open seams, thread ends not removed, or loose tension resulting in loose seams; any material defects, distorted parts or poor workmanship; any component part omitted; label missi

23、ng, incorrect, or illegible; cautionary statement lettering not larger than all other lettering; measurement of item not as specified; bar code omitted or not readable by scanner; human-readable interpretation (HRI) omitted or illegible; bar code not visible on folded, packaged item; bar code causes
