2、. This description covers a spring-scale tension handle for use with a surveyors measuring tape. Salient characteristics: Desim: The tension handle shall be as specified herein. The surveyors steel measuring tape tension handle shall consist of a spring-scale body with a jump ring and snap hook, for

3、 attachment to a surveyors steel measuring tape at one end, a jump ring and tape pull at the other end of the body, and a leather carrying thong. A typical tension handle is. shown in figure 1. Spring-scale bodv. The spring-scale body shall be graduated for a length of not less than 2 inches in 0.50

4、 pound increments from O to 30 pounds. Accuracy. The spring and pointer assembly shall indicate the applied load to within 0.50 pound in the range between 10 to 30 pounds at +75 OF (24 OC) and to within 1 pound at -25 OF (-32 OC) and at +125 OF (52 “C). Tape pull. The tape pull shall be readily deta

5、chable. Snap hook. The snap hook shall be of the swivel type and suitable for fastening to the end loop of a surveyors steel tape. Leather carrvinn thong. The leather carrying thong shall be not less than 36 inches long, 0.250-inch wide, and 0.117-inch thick, and shall contain between 0.20 and 0.50

6、percent paranitrophenol to render the thong fungus resistant. 8、s: Material shall be as specified herein. &. The body, including the end pieces and pointer assembly, shall be fabricated of corrosion-resistant material. Rings. snap hook, and tape pull. The rings, snap hook, and tape pull shall be fabricated of corrosion-resistant metal or treated for corrosion re

9、sistance by coating or plating. Spring. The spring shall be of medium- or high-carbon steel. Identification marking: The tension handle shall be identified with the manufacturers identification. WorkmanshiD: The quality of workmanship shall be such as to produce tension handles that are in accordanc

10、e with the requirements of this description and are so constructed as to insure proper functioning of all parts of the unit. Certification of commercial item. product offered to the Government meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producers own dr

11、awings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product as the manufacturers current product offered by the contractor in the commercial marketplace for at least one year preceding the solicitation. Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance

12、 prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. The contractor shall certify that the The Metric Products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis wich those manufactured using inch-pound units, pr

13、ovided they fall within the tolerances specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of FED-STD-376, and all other requirements of this commercial item description are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in

14、the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product Qualitv assurance: defects. The tension handle shall be examined for the following Presence of one or more
