This commercial item description covers the instru

2、ments necessary for measuring the curvilinear distance on maps. Salient characteristics: Design: The individual item requirements shall be as specified herein. Types and styles. The map measurers shall be of the following types and styles. Types : I. Solid handle (two graduated scales). II. Watch st

3、em (three graduated scales). III. Swivel handle with locking nut (two graduated scales). Stvles : 1. Dial graduated in English system. 2. Dial graduated in both English and metric systems (applicable to type III only). 3. Dial graduated in metric system. Materials. Cases, handles, tracer wheels, and

4、 dials shall be constructed from rugged, good quality, corrosion resistant metal or suitable plastic. Crystals shall be of shatterproof, scratch-resistant, non-yellowing plastics. Tracer wheel staffs for all types, and heart cams and flyback levers (types II), shall be constructed of hardened, corro

5、sion resistant steel. Gears and pinions shall be constructed of good quality brass or other suitable corrosion-resistant metal. The outer surface of the case, tracer wheel or disc, and handle shall be nickel or chromium plated. The crystal shall be highly polished. The finished map measurer shall be

The overall lengths of types I and III shall be not more than 5 inches (12.7 cm); the handle shall be approximately 0.25 inch (6.4 mm) in diameter and 3.0 inches (7.6 cm) in length. of the dials shall be not more tha

8、n 1.75 inches (4.45 cm) unless other- wise specified. The diameter Graduations: Type I, style 1 (two scales, inches and feet). The outer scale shall be divided into 12 inches and each inch subdivided into eighths or tenths. The scale shall be numbered clockwise at each inch division mark from 1 to 1

9、2 and labeled “Inches“. The inner scale shall be divided into 25 feet in 1 foot divisions and numbered, clockwise, at each 5 foot division mark from 5 to 25, and labeled “Feet“. The tracer wheel shall be graduated in either .O5 or ,0312 inch. Type II, style 1 (three scales, inches and feet). The lar

10、ger outer scale shall be divided into 12 inches, and each inch subdivided into half inches and eighths. The scale shall be numbered, counter- clockwise, at each inch division mark from 1 to 12, and labeled “Inchestt, One of the small scales shall be divided into 10 feet in divisions of 1 foot. This

11、scale shall be numbered, clockwise, at each foot mark and labeled ttFeettt. into 100 feet in ten-foot divisions. It should be numbered clockwise, at each division mark from 10 to 100, and labeled “Feet“. tracer wheel or disc shall be graduated into 1/32 inch. The other scale should be graduated The

The half-inch divisions shall be indicated by dots. The scale shall be numbered, clockwise, at each 3-inch division mark, from 3 to 39, and labeled “I

13、nches“. The inner scale shall be graduated into 99 centimeters (cm) in divisions of 1 cm, with heavier marks for each 5 cm division marks. The scale shall be numbered, clockwise, at each 10 cm mark, from 10 to 99, and labeled “Centimeters“. Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encourag

18、 unitized into one or more unit loads, except only map measurers of like descriptiopn shall be contained within the same container. Commercial. Each map measurer shall be packed in accordance with the suppliers normal method for retail distribution. Map measurers shipped to a single destination may

19、be unitized to permit handling as a single unit. containers shall comply with Uniform Freight Classification or National Motor Freight Classification rules. Shipping Marking. Unit, intermediate (when provided), and exterior packs shall be marked with the item nomenclature, stock or part number, quan

20、tity per pack, and contract number as a minimum; additional marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. Exterior packs shall have in addition the complete consignees address. Markings shall be applied in a legible manner in a contrasting color, of an appropriate size, and of waterproof m

21、aterials. Quality assurance. The map measurers shall be examined for the following defects. Presence of one or more defects shall be cause for rejection. 1. Design not as specified. 2. Materials not as specified. 3. Dimensions not as specified. 4. Graduations not as specified. 5. Packaging and marki

22、ng not as specified. Certification of commercial item. The contractor shall certify that the product offered to the Government meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices

23、 and is the same product as the manufacturers current product offered by the contractor in the commercial marketplace for at least one year preceding the solicitation. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise pr
