17、 certification services for manufacturers who, under license from CSA, wish to use the appropriate registered CSA Marks on certain products of their manufacture to indicate conformity with CSA Standards. CSA Certification for a number of products is provided in the interest of maintaining agreed-upo

18、n standards of quality, performance, interchangeability and/or safety, as appropriate. Where applicable, certification may form the basis for acceptance by inspection authorities responsible for enforcement of regulations. Where feasible, programs will be developed for additional products for which

19、certification is desired by producers, consumers or other interests. Scope 1.1 This Standard applies to central warm air

30、 electric resistance type furnaces which are either incor- porated in a solid fuelfired furnace or are attached to a solid fuel fired furnace, so as to form a single unit which can be used asan electric furnace, a solid fuel fired furnace, or both simultaneously if so designed. 1.2 This Standard app

31、lies to electric furnaces in com- bination with solid fuel fired furnaces which are designed for residential use at not more than 150 V to ground and are intended for installation in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. 1.3 This Standard does not apply to electric furnaces which are

32、 installed as field “add-ons“ or to add-on electric plenum heaters which are covered by CSA Electrical Bulletin No. 1302. 1.4 This Standard does not apply where the combi- nation unit is used in conjunction with or is intended to be added to an oil fired or any other heat energy source of a comfort

33、heating appliance. 2. Definition 2.1 The following definition applies in this Standard: Electric heating section of the electric furnace means a complete assembly of heater elements (open coil or metal sheathed type), electrical insulation, associated controls and frame, adaptor or enclosure for hol

34、ding the assembly together and fastening it to the furnace. 3. General Requirements 3.1 General 3.1.1 General requirements applicable to this Standard are given in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0. 3.1.2 The solid fuel fired portion of furnaces covered by this Standard shall comply with the requirements of

35、CSA Standard CAN3-B366.1. 3.1.3 The requirements of this Standard are additional to those of CSA Standards C22.2 No. 23 and CAN3-B366.1. 3.2 Reference Publications 3.2.1 Where reference is made to CSA Standards of the Canadian Electrical Code, Parts I and II, such reference shall be considered to re

Construction 4.1 General 4.1.1 Electric components shall be suitable for the intended application and shall (a) be approved; or (b) comply with those requirements of the parti- cular CSA Standard covering such components that are pertinent to the inten

40、ded application. 4.1.2 The combination furnace shall be provided with a suitable terminal block for connection to a single source of supply (see also Clause 5.4). Leads only are not acceptable. 4.1.3 When the electric heating section of the furnace is intended to be shipped separately, as permitted

41、by Clause 4.3, the electric components such as the temperature limiting controls, contactors, relays and supply terminal blocks shall be integral with the electric heating section. 4.1.4 The thickness of sheet metal enclosures for live parts shall be not less than that specified in Table 1. 4.1.5 Me

42、tal other than steel or aluminum shall be of sufficient thickness to provide mechanical strength and rigidity equivalent to that of the sheet steel specified in Table 1. 4.1.6 The thickness of metal for cast enclosures shall comply with Table 2. 4.1.7 An interlock shall be provided in the electrical

43、 heating section to prevent simultaneous heating by the solid fuel furnace and the electric heater elements, where such heating would generate temperatures in excess of those permitted by CSA Standard C22.2 No. 23. 4.1.8 Wiring connections shall be made within the furnace enclosure or within integra

44、l terminal or junction boxes provided for this purpose. 4.2 Temperature Limiting Control 4.2.1 A furnace shall incorporate a thermally operated, automatically resetting temperature limiting control or controls, which shall disconnect the heating element or elements from the supply circuit, to preven

45、t temperatures from exceeding the limits specified in Clause 6.4.1 of CSA Standard C22.2 No. 23, when the furnace is operated under abnormal conditions (see Clauses 6.3, 6.4, and 6.5). The temperature limiting control(s) shall befactory- installed and wired asan integral part of the furnace. 4.2.2 L

46、imit controls which are required to be installed in the field at a predetermined location from the heater element shall be (a) prewi red in the factory; and (b) provided with a suitable bracket for mounting in the intended position. 4.2.3 Temperature controls, which are actuated either by electric h

47、eat or solid fuel fired heat and which are intended to prevent overheating of the electric furnace components or limit temperatures, shall be fastened mechanically and electrically to the electric furnace heating section (see also Clause 4.1.3). 4.2.4 The temperature limiting control of the electric furnace orthe electric heating section of the electric furnace shall not function during normal operation to electrically disconnect the electric heat
