1、C22.2 No. 229-M1988(reaffirmed 2014)Switching and Metering CentresGeneral Instruction No. 2 C22.2 No. 229-Mi 988 April i994 CSA Standard C22.2 No. 229-Mi 988, Switching and Metering Centres, was published in July 1 988; it consisted of 38 pages, each dated July 1988. Amendments to Clauses 4.8.1 and
2、4.12.2 and Table 5 have been formally approved and are incorporated (and identified by a vertical line in the margin) in the attached replacement pages. CSA Standard C22.2 No. 229-Mi 988 now consists of the following pages: 314, 17, 18, 2132, 37, and 38 dated July 1988; and 15, 16, 19, 20, and 3336
3、dated April 1994. These replacement pages are to be inserted into your copy of the Standard; the pages replaced should be kept for reference. 4.5 Main Switch, Circuit Breaker, Mains Terminal, or Subfeed Terminal Section 4.5.1 A main switch or circuit breaker section shall conform to the applicable r
4、equirements of CSA Standards C22.2 No. 4 or C22.2 No. 5, respectively, and the current rating shall not exceed that of the main busbars. 4.5.2 Where a main switch or circuit breaker section is intended to be used as a service box, it shall comply with the requirements for this application as specifi
5、ed in CSA Standards C22.2 No. 4 or C22.2 No. 5, respectively. 4.5.3 A mains terminal section shall be provided with wiring terminals complying with Clause 4.8 as required for the termination of the supply conductors. 4.5.4 Subfeed connections shall be permitted in a mains terminal section except the
6、y shall not be permitted in a mains switch or circuit breaker section, intended for service use. 4.5.5 A subfeed terminal section shall be permitted at the end of the main busbars remote from the supply end. 4.6 Circuit Breakers and Fusible Switches 4.6.1 Circuit breakers shall comply with CSA Stand
7、ard C22.2 No. 5 and fusible switches shall comply with CSA Standard C22.2 No. 4. 4.6.2 Circuit breakers shall be 2- or 3-pole common trip. 4.6.3 There shall be provision for locking circuit breakers and fusible switches only in the OFF position. 4.6.4 If it is intended that ci,rcuit breakers or fusi
8、ble switches be field installed, the centre shall be marked as specified in Clause 5.3(b). 4.6.5 If a circuit breaker or fusible switch is connected to a meter- mounting device by insulated wire conductors, means shall be provided to prevent the conductors from contacting bare live parts. 4.6.6 Exce
9、pt as permitted by Clauses 4.6.7 and 4.7.4, each circuit breaker shall be located in a separate compartment. C22.2 No. 229M1988 April 1994 Page 15 (Replaces p. 15, July 1988) 4.6.7 Where all circuit breakers are grouped together, they shall be located in a separate compartment. 4 . 6 . 8 The fusible
10、 switch for each subcircuit shall be located in a separate compartment with a hinged cover that can be sealed in the closed position. The separate compartments shall have no openings between adjacent switching compartments. 4.7 Meter-Mounting Devices 4.7.1 Except as permitted by Clause 4.7.4, each m
11、eter-mounting device shall be located in a separate compartment with its own cover. 4.7.2 Each meter-mounting device shall comply with the applicable requirements of CSA Standard C22.2 No. 115. 4.7.3 If a 5-terminal meter-mounting device is intended for use in a 3- phase circuit, the fifth terminal
12、shall be equivalent in size to the other terminals of the device. 4.7.4 A meter-mounting device and its associated circuit breaker shall be permitted to be located in the same compartment, if provided with its own cover. 4.8 Wiring Terminals 4.8.1 Except as permitted by Clause 4.9, metering centres
13、shall be provided with field-wiring terminals suitable for the connection of conductor sizes selected from the 75C column of Table 2 or 4 of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, except that for circuit breaker terminals rated 125 A or less and marked for use with 60C wire only, the conductor sizes
14、shall be selected from the 60C column of the Tables. 4.8.2 Wire connectors shall comply with the requirements for pressure type connectors as specified in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 65. 4.8.3 A separate terminal shall be provided for the connection of each circuit neutral conductor and shall be identifi
15、ed as required by CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0. 4.8.4 In a 3-phase assembly, if a circuit breaker or a fusible switch is 2-pole and is connected to a 5-terminal meter-mounting device, the neutral shall also contain a terminal for connection of the potential lead to the potential terminal of the meter-mo
16、unting device and shall accommodate a No. 12 conductor. C22.2 No. 229M1988 April 1994 Page 16 (Replaces p. 16, July 1988) as listed in column 3 of Table 10 in the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, using the smaller of the two dimensions shown for No. 12 AWG wire. (b) Conductors connecting to a mould
17、ed-case circuit breaker I rated 125 A or less and marked as suitable for use with 60/75C wire shall be 60C wire unless a marking is provided to indicate that the use of 75C wire is intended. (c) Where terminals are marked as suitable for either copper or aluminum wire, wiring space and wire-bending
18、space suitable for aluminum wire shall be provided. Cd) Where multiple conductors in parallel are intended to be used, it shall be assumed that they will be run in separate conduits. (e) Where a terminal is suitable for use with a single conductor or two or more conductors in parallel, the arrangeme
19、nt requiring the larger space shall be assumed. (f) A full complement of circuit devices necessitating the largest wiring space and wire-bending space shall be assumed. (g) The largest conductor for which the equipment is marked. 4.12 .3 Uninsulated live parts shall not be located in a wiring space
20、for field-installed conductors if one or more of the conductors may be of a polarity different to that of the uninsulated live part. 4.12.4 The minimum wiring space between the bottom of an enclosure where conduit or other raceways may enter and insulated or uninsulated busbars shall be (a) 254 mm f
21、or uninsulated busbars; and (b) 114 mm for insulated busbars, busbar supports, and other obstructions. 4.13* Short-Circuit Current Rating *Effective Date-See Foreword for exception. 4.13.1 The short-circuit current rating of a centre shall be one or more of the following values: 5, 7.5, 10, 14, 18,
22、22, 25, 30, 35, 42, 50, 65, 85, 100, 125, 150, or 200 rms symmetrical kA. 4.13.2 If the maximum peak let-through current, through a meter-mounting device, exceeds 30 000 A, the device shall be connected to the secondary sides of current transformers. 4.13.3 Except as permitted by Clauses 4.13.4 to 4
23、.13.6, the short- - circuit current rating of a switching and metering section shall not exceed (a) the current interrupting or short-circuit withstand rating of any device specified to be installed therein; or (b) the current interrupting or short-circuit withstand rating of the remote overcurrent
24、protective device with which it is specified to be used.
