The instructions shall include, as a minimum, installation instructions to

8、the effect that: a. CAUTION: All adapters (unions) supplied with the connector must be used unless the appliance valve has a union connection. No attempt shall be made to connect the fittings on the connector directly to the threaded rigid pipe ends of the equipment manifold or the outlet of the fue

9、l gas piping system. b. The final assembly must be tested for leaks. CAUTION: Test for leaks only with leak test solution. Rinse with clear water after leak test to remove any corrosive residue. DO NOT USE OPEN FLAME TO TEST FOR GAS LEAKS. The installation instructions shall be accompanied by illust

10、rations or diagrams depicting the proper assembly of fittings, adapters or other parts. 2Part II: Performance 2.1 General 2.1.1 During test for compliance with this standard, connections shall be made using the maximum torque specified in Table VIII, Applied Torque During Reconnection of Fittings Te

11、st, unless otherwise specified. 2.1.2 Unless otherwise specified, all tests for leakage in Part II shall be made consistent with section 2.2, Leakage. 2.2 Leakage A connector and its fittings shall not leak. For the purpose of this section, leakage is defined as a flow rate in excess of 10cm3/hr at

12、3 psi (20.7 kPa). Method of Test This test shall be conducted at room temperature. One end of the connector shall be attached to a flow measuring device, capable of accurately indicating the allowable flow rate, and a pneumatic system, capable of supplying clean air at a test pressure of 3 psi (20.7

13、 kPa). An airtight connection shall be made at the opposite end of the connector. Air shall be admitted to the system slowly and maintained at the specified test pressure. The leakage rate shall be measured and shall not exceed 10 cm3/hr of air corrected to standard conditions of 30 in Hg column (10

14、1.3 kPa) and 60F (15.5C). 2.4 Strength, Flexibility And Temperature Resistance 2.4 Of Conduit 2.4.1 Unless otherwise stated, each test specified in this section shall consist of three tests: one performed with a connector which has been maintained at -40F (-40C) for 6 hours immediately preceding the

15、 test, one with a connector which has been maintained at 200F (93.5C) in dry air for six hours immediately preceding the test, and one with a connector which has been maintained at 200F (93.5C) in air saturated with water vapor for 6 hours immediately preceding the test. During the conduct of these

16、tests, connectors which have been exposed to elevated temperatures shall not soften sufficiently to become sticky or for any material to ooze through the covering or inside the hose. 2.4.2 Connectors shall withstand, without bursting or leakage, a hydrostatic pressure of 25 lb/in2(172.4 kPa). 3Metho

17、d of Test During this test, a quick-disconnect device supplied as an end connection shall be removed and replaced with a plug. A connector of the shortest length provided by the manufacturer shall be assembled in a hydraulic pressure test system, including a pump, gage and heavy-duty pipe fittings,

18、capable of sustaining the desired pressure, care being taken to free all air from the system. The applied pressure shall be maintained for 1 minute. If no bursting or leakage occurs during this period, this provision shall be deemed met. This test shall be applied to each nominal diameter, type and

19、material of connector submitted. 2.4.3 Connectors shall be able to withstand, without leakage and without becoming detached, a steady lengthwise pull of 400 lb/in (70.1 kN/m) of nominal inside diameter for 1 minute. Method of Test During this test, a quick-disconnect device supplied as an end connec

20、tion shall be removed and replaced with a plug. One end of a connector of the shortest length provided by the manufacturer shall be securely attached to a fixed pipe to which an air supply system and pressure gage is connected. The other end shall be securely attached in a similar manner to a closed

21、 pipe connected to a mechanical means by which a constant pulling force of 400 lb/in (70.1 kN/m) of nominal inside diameter can be applied. The required tension shall be applied to the connector and maintained for the duration of the test. At the end of 1 minute the connector shall not leak. 2.4.4 T

22、he connector shall resist crushing to the extent that a 200 lb (90.7 kg) load placed on a 1 in (25.4 mm) section of the center of the hose will not reduce the capacity more than 50 percent nor cause the connector to leak when tested as specified in the following Method of Test. Method of Test The ce

23、nter of the connector shall be rested on a hard flat surface. A 200 lb (90.7 kg) weight with a smooth metallic face 1 in (25.4 mm) wide shall be placed without impact on a 1 in (25.4 mm) section at the center of the hose. The connector shall not leak. With the load applied, a capacity test as specif

24、ied in 2.3, Capacity, shall then be conducted, and the resultant capacity shall not be less than 50 percent of that determined in 2.3 without the load applied. 2.4.5 Gas hose connectors shall be able to withstand, without leakage or damage to the hose or fittings, 20 applications of 90 degree (1.57

25、rad) twists in alternate directions. 4Method of Test One end of a connector of the shortest length provided by the manufacturer shall be securely attached to a rigid frame and loaded in tension as specified in Table VI, Applied Load During Torsion Test. An air pressure equal to 3 psi (20.7 kPa) shal

26、l be maintained in the system while the hose is rotated 90 degrees (1.57 rad) at the unattached fitting, in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the hose, and then returned to the original position and rotated 90 degrees (1.57 rad) in the opposite direction. Each 90 degree (1.57 rad) twist and subse

27、quent return to the original position shall be counted as one cycle, and the twisting motion shall be applied uniformly at a rate of 5 cycles per minute. The connector shall not leak. This test shall be applied to each nominal diameter, type and material of connector submitted. Table VI Applied Load

28、 During Torsion Test 2.4.6 The connector shall make continuous contact with a cylindrical form 12 inches (305 mm) in diameter for 110 degrees (1.92 rad) of its circumference when the designated weight is suspended from each end of the connector. Method of Test The connector shall be placed over a ho

29、rizontal cylindrical form 12 inches (305 mm) in diameter and a weight as determined from Table VII, Weights for Flexibility Test, attached to each end. The conduit shall be in continuous contact with the cylindrical form for a distance of not less than 110 degrees (1.92 rad) around its circumference

31、eak as a result of being connected, disconnected and reconnected. Method of Test Connectors employed for this test shall be new. Two samples of each nominal diameter, type and material shall be supplied for test. The connector to be tested shall be connected to a leakproof system in such a manner th

32、at the pipe thread end of the fitting is held rigid. The union shall be tightened by the application of a torque not to exceed the minimum torque specified in Table VIII, Applied Torque During Reconnection of Fitting Test. The connector shall then be leak tested as described in Section 2.2, Leakage.

33、 If the connector leaks, the torque shall be increased sufficiently to overcome the leakage, but not in excess of the maximum torque specified in Table VIII. There shall be no leakage in excess of that specified in 2.2 after the union is tightened as specified in this paragraph. A split section of r

34、idid pipe, clamped together to obtain a snug fit over the connector, with edges rounded at the ends, shall then be snugly fitted over the tubing with its nearest edge a distance from the top of the fitting equal to the internal diameter of the tubing. This pipe shall be used as a handle to deflect t

35、he tubing at the fitting 60 degrees (1.05 rad) in one direction from the center line of the fitting. The tubing shall then be returned to its original position, deflected 60 degrees (1.05 rad) in the opposite direction, and again returned to its original position. The test for leakage shall again be

36、 applied as outlined above. There shall be no leakage in excess of that specified in 2.2, Leakage. The union shall then be disconnected, the tubing rotated 55 degrees (0.96 rad) in a clockwise direction, and the union again assembled to the fitting and tightened by the application of a torque not to

37、 exceed the torque determined to be necessary to overcome leakage in the previous connection. Leakage tests shall again be applied as outlined above. If no leakage occurs, or if leakage is observed and can be overcome by an increase in torque not to exceed the maximum torque specified in Table VIII,

38、 the tubing shall be deflected as described in the preceding paragraph after which leakage tests shall again be applied as outlined above. The procedure outlined in the preceding paragraph shall be performed a total of 8 times without leakage in excess of that specified in 2.2, Leakage. 6Part IV: De

39、finitions APPLIANCE: All gas utilization equipment. CONNECTOR, MOVABLE GAS APPLIANCE (ANSI Z21.69 CSA 6.16). A connector for use with appliances (including all commercial cooking appliances) that may or may not be equipped with castors and that under conditions of normal use, are moved on a regular

40、basis. A connector of this type is for occasional but not continuous movement. Connectors of this type may be used with quick disconnect devices. 1. Connector Movable Gas Appliances (ANSI Z21.69 CSA 6.16). A connector for use with all castered appliances as well as Food Service appliances that may, or may not utilize casters and, under conditions of normal use, are mover on a regular basis for service, positioning or area cleanliness. A connector of this type is not designed for continuous movement and may be equipped with a quick disconnect device.
