3、the Army, Navy and Air Force have collaborated in the preparation of this Guide Specification. Its contents and arrangements conform generally to the “CSI Masterformat - Master List of Section Titles and Numbers (MP-2-1),“ 10 Mar 1983 of the Construction Speci- fications Institute. In accordance wit
4、h the CSI Masterformat, identify each Section by a number and a letter (see Index of Divisions and Sections). The number will be that of the Division under which the Section is located. number will begin with “A“ and continue alphabetically, as necessary. The letters following the USE AND INSTRUCTIO
5、N: This Guide Specification shall be uaed in the preparation of project specifications for Military Family Housing in ac- cordance with current directives and instructions. It shall not be made a part of another specification by reference. Each project Architect- Engineer shall assure that complete
6、coverage of the work is involved is specified, and shall further assure that Co-ordination with the drawings is accompliehed. SELECTION OF MATERIALS: It is intended that architects and engineers for military family housing projects be permitted to select from this Guide Specification the materials a
7、nd equipment which, in their professional judg- ment, are suitable for specific projects. Contractor opinions included in this Guide Specification shall not be deleted unless economic and engineering evaluations indicate that the options are not justified for a specific project. Newly developed mate
8、rials and methods not included in this Guide Specifica- tion may be used in limited application with prior clearance of the Military Departments involved. (Each Military Department shall ensure that prohib- ited materials are not included in project specifications.) Such new materials or methods may
9、 not be used extensively until the quality and durability have been proven and appropriate specifications have been included in this Guide Specif icat ion. In selecting the quality standards for materials and equipment, consideration should be given to the impact that certain materials may have on t
10、he construc- tion and maintenance cost of the over-all project. November 1978 GUIDE SPECIFICATIONS FOR MILITARY FAMILY HOUSING CLEARING, STRIPPING, AND ROUGH GRADING Clearing, Stripping, and Rough Grading will be located in the project specification as one of the Sections under Division 2 - “Site Work,“ and be numbered accordingly. NOTES ON THE USE
12、 OF THIS SPECIFICATION SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDA- TIONS: This Guide Specification covers clearing, stripping, and rough grading of the site, and does not include finish grading, landscaping or excavation and backfill for buildings. Referenced Specifications: In the project specifications, list the
13、specifications and standards by their current titles, numbers and letters. (7) NOTE 2 Materials will be classified (7) U as either satisfactory or (7) unsatisfactory and inserted in the blanks. (7) Determination will be made in accordance (7) with information contained in MIL-STD-619 (7) and with lo
14、cal experience. 1-31 Subsurface Soil Data: This I I paragraph shall be omitted if no borings have been made. It is recommended that such a report be obtained for most projects. Salvageable Timber: This paragraph shall be omitted where timber is not suitable or where the facility has no use for it. r
15、zl Site: If there is no burn area available, delete paragraph (B). If burning on the site is permissible or a burn area is available, delete paragraph (C) Burning or Removal From I NOTE 6 I Topsoil: Where no topsoil I 1 ispresent or where suitable topsoil is available within limits of the work area,
16、 the inapplicable words in parentheses shall be deleted, and the parentheses will be removed from around the applicable clause. Where suitable topsoil is not available within the limits of the work area, considera- tion shall be given to whether it is more economical to treat the soil of the graded
17、area with fertilizer and supple- ments so as to be conducive for turf establ.ishment and maintenance or to transport topsoil to the project site. If treatment of the soil is more econ- omical, paragraph (B) shall be deleted, and the requirements for fertilizer and supplements shall be included in Se
18、ction 2, TOPSOILING, FINISHED GRADING, SEEDING, AND SODDING. Evcavating: Delete sentence rn on removal of old sidewalks, paving, and foundations where this work. is not required or covered in Section 2, DEMOLITION AND REMOVAL. Borrow Pits: Two alternate paragraphs are furnished depending on whether
19、borrow areas are available on Government land. If avail- able on Government land, locations of the areas will be indicated, or the approximate distances from the project site will be specified. 21、 laboratories or may order testing done under a separate contract. in either case, paragraph (E) rhall be used. (D) rhall be ueed when it is decided to have the Contractor employ the labora- tory. Delete inapplicable paragraph. Paragraph Rock Removal: If rock is anticipated, include the definition a
22、nd select from the options shown the appropriate condition relating to payment depending on whether or not extent of rock under entire site is known. payment is to be made for rock removal, substitute paragraph 12, EXCAVATION OF UNCLASSIFIED MATERIAL for paragraph 11, ROCK REMOVAL. 23、r shall use the appropriate paragraph for particular site conditions and delete inapplicable par agr aphs .
