22、EMENT, ACOUSTICAL SCOPE This standard applies to tiles or panels composed of an asbestos-cement with adhered or separate or without sound absorbent backing, intended primarily for use in acoustical treatment of building construction. The asbestos-cement shall be a uniform mixture of asbestos, silica

23、 flour and Portland cement with or without the addition of curing agents, coatings, pigments or mineral granules. The sound absorbent backing shall be in accordance with CANCGSE-92.1 -M. For cautionary notes on the use of this product, see par. 4.5 and 8.4. This standard may require the use of mater

24、ials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Classes Class A -

34、 Beveled edges Class B - Nonbeveled edges. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS The materials from which the asbestos-cement tiles or panels are made shall be combined under pressure and thoroughly cured by autoclaving. The exposed surfaces of the tiles or panels shall be free from blemishes that detract from their

35、 appearance. The perforations of Type 1 tiles or panels shall be of uniform size and shall be positioned in a uniform pattern, unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1). Type1 tiles or panels shall have an adhered sound absorbent paper backing or shall be used in conjunction with a separate sound absorp

36、tion backing, unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1). Cautionary Statement - Each package shall be clearly and indelibly marked with the following statement: ASBESTOS-CEMENT. DO NOT DRY CUT, SAND OR DRILL AT HIGH SPEED WITHOUT DUST SUCTION TOOLS. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS Dimensions - The tiles or panels

37、 shall be supplied in the following standard sizes, as specified (par. 8.1): 300 x 300 mm, 300 x 600 mm, 600 x 600 mm, 600 x 1200 mm. When used as lay-in tiles or panels, the standard sizes are 590x590 mm and 590 x 11 80 mm. The nominal thickness shall be 4.5 mm, the minimum average thickness being

38、4.0 mm and maximum average thickness, 5.0 mm. Perforations (Type 1) - Unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1), the perforations in Type 1 shall be of 4.8 mm nominal diameter and spaced at 12.7 mm nominal centers. Tiles and panels that have a random pattern of perforations shall have a total hole area

47、ss shall not exceed 1.3 mm/m of width or length. Bevels - The bevels on the edges of ClassA tiles or panels shall be uniform in appearance and dimensions. They shall be 45 and approximately 3 to 5 mm, measured along the bevel. Flexural Strength - When tested in accordance with ASTM 2459, the flexura

48、l strength, which is the average breaking load in newtons of dried test specimens (before perforation), shall not be less than 222 N. Water Absorption - The average water absorption shall not be more than 28% by mass, when tested in accordance with ASTM C 459. Dimensional Stability - Tile or panel specimens that are immersed in water for 24 h at room temperature and then oven dried at 93 to 99C for 24 h shall show no shrinkage greater than 1.3 mmm of length and width. The shrinkage is the difference in measurements taken after immersion and afte
