Thetestisnotapplicabletosize020(gauge14)andlarger. 4 Preparationofspecimens Preparethespecimensasfollows. 4.1 Cableconductors Removeatleast150mmfromtheend

20、ofthecableanddiscard.Cutfivespecimensofapproximately30mm lengthfromtheremainingcable.Stripthespecimensofinsulationtoexposealengthof14,5mmto15mmof conductor,takingcaretoensurethatnopartofthesurfaceortheexposedconductorbecomes contaminated,especiallybycontactwiththefingers.Minimizeandcorrectanydisturb

21、anceofthestrands. 4.2 Screens Takefivespecimenstrandsfromthecompletedcable.Ensurethatnopartsofthestrandbecomes contaminated,especiallybycontactwiththefingers.EN3475509:2002(E) 4 5 Apparatus Theapparatuscomprisingabalance,transducer,chartrecorderandsolderbathshallcomplywiththe followingcharacteristic

27、reshown. ForEN2083conductortypesB(tinplated)andC(silverplated)useSn63solder(63%tin,37%lead)at (235 3 )Cwithnonactivatedpurecollophonyresinflux. ForconductortypeD(nickelplated)useSn96solder(96,5%tin,3,5silver)at(271 5 )Cwithcollophony resinfluxactivatedto0,5%chloridelevel. Suspendthespecimenverticall

28、ywithitscutend(20 5)mmabovethesurfaceofthemoltensolderfor (30 15 )stoallowmostofthefluxsolventtoevaporate.Duringthisdryingperiod,scrapethesurfaceofthe moltensolderwithabladeofsuitablematerialtoremoveoxidesandadjustthesuspensionandchart recordertracetothedesiredzeroposition. Immersethespecimeninthemo

29、ltensolderataspeedof(20 5 )mm/stoadepthof(4 1 )mmandholdin thispositionfornotlessthan10sandthenwithdraw.Obtainatraceofforceversustimefromthestartofthe loweringuntilthespecimenreturnstothestartposition.
