Scope1.1 This practice covers the in

3、formational content of labelsin or on chemical protective clothing. This practice alsoaddresses putting label content on chemical protective clothingpackaging when it is not practical to attach the label directly tothe chemical protective clothing or print it on the chemicalprotective clothing item

4、based on the size or type of theproduct.1.2 This practice describes the recommended format andminimal content of the information to be included on the labelsused for chemical protective clothing.1.2.1 For the purposes of this practice, chemical protectiveclothing includes but is not limited to: suit

5、s, garments, andpartial body garments such as hoods, aprons, sleeve protectors,gloves, and footwear.1.2.2 Protective clothing is defined as any single item orcombination of items used for the purpose of isolating parts ofthe body from direct contact with a potential hazard. It does notinclude indivi

6、dual parts of a protective clothing item designedto be worn as part of another item (for example, a faceshield orlens) unless it may be worn independently of the other itemsand still be used in a protective manner. For example, a gloveor boot, unless permanently attached to a garment or suit,would b

7、e considered a protective clothing item requiringlabeling, while a visor or vent valve would not. In summary,the intent of this practice is to only require labeling of parts ofan ensemble that can be used independently for the protectionof the user.1.3 This practice does not cover user information p

8、rovidedby means other than item labeling such as instructions,informational packets, brochures, or other written means. Userinformation is partly addressed in Practice F2061.1.4 This practice excludes those items covered under 16CFR 303 unless specifically designed for use as chemicalprotective clot

9、hing.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. 19、 indicatingcompliance with specific standards, warnings, limitations as-sociated with the product, and certain types of use, care, andmaintenance information as addressed in Practice F2061.3.4 Rules and regulations in Title 16 Code of FederalRegulations Part 303 cover the identification of fibers in

20、 textileproducts, specifically the disclosure of the fiber content and themanner of labeling products for purposes of applying tariffs onimported products and for informing the consumer. Thispractice is not intended to be a replacement for the require-ments in 16 CFR 303, which may still apply to ce

21、rtain types ofchemical protective clothing.4. Minimal Informational Requirements4.1 The minimum informational requirements for labelingof chemical protective clothing include an identification of theitem, the manufacturers or distributors name, information onthe base composition of the item (materia

22、l of construction), andsize.4.2 The following label elements represent the minimumrequirements:4.2.1 IdentificationProvide the name or trade name, stylenumber, or other description for the item (such as catalognumber, etc.).4.2.2 Manufacturers or Distributors NameProvide thename of the manufacturer

23、or distributor of the item. Theprovision of the manufacturers address, including country ofmanufacture or contact information, is considered optional butis recommended.4.2.3 Base Material CompositionProvide the primary ma-terial composition of the clothing item in terms of the materialor polymer typ

24、e (for example, butyl rubber or flash-spunpolyester). Generic names identifying the material arepreferred, but specific material trade names are also permitted.4.2.3.1 Where the clothing composition includes multiplematerials used in its construction, identify each major materialseparately.4.2.3.2 I

25、f the clothing item is of a multilayered construction,identify the outer layer first followed by inner layers.4.2.3.3 If the base material involves a blend of differentmaterials, identify the component materials in order of highestpercentage components first.4.2.3.4 If the base material includes mul

26、tiple material com-posites or coatings, identify the individual layers from theexterior to the interior of the specific material. For example, fora coated material with a coating on the exterior, the materialwould be identified as PVC/polyester.4.2.4 SizeIndicate clothing item sizing using the manuf

27、ac-turers size designation using a standard sizing system (forexample, small, medium, large, or extra large), a numericalsizing system based on a conventional indication of sizes for aparticular item (for example, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11 for gloves orshoe size and width for footwear), or a wearer dime

28、nsion-basedsize such as chest size in inch-pound or SI (metric) units (forexample, 42 to 44 in. (107 to 112 cm).4.2.4.1 It is recommended that manufacturers provide somebasis of their sizing system in associated user information,specifically indicating how the appropriate size of the chemicalprotect

29、ive clothing items should be selected.4.2.4.2 For chemical protective clothing items available inone size only, identify the size as “one size fits all” or “one sizefits most.”5. Label Format5.1 It is permitted that the manufacturer or distributor utilizeany form or type of labeling method for provi

30、ding the requiredinformation on a label and affixing that label to the product.Labeling practices include silk screen impressions, embossing(raised lettering), attached (sewn-on) tags, or any other meansof labeling. Integral or attached labels are recommended.5.2 Create labels that are durable over

31、the expected servicelife of the chemical protective clothing item.5.2.1 Where products are expected to be used or cleaned,ensure that labels remain legible through the recommendedcleaning or re-servicing procedures for the chemical protectiveclothing item.5.3 Prepare label printing in a sufficient s

32、ize to enable theuser to easily read the provided information. A minimumletter/symbol size of 1.6 mm (116 in.) is recommended.5.4 Locate the product label in a place where the label willbe conspicuous for identifying the protective clothing item butnot in an area that interferes with the use of the

33、product orcauses discomfort to the user.5.5 Though it is preferred that the minimum requiredinformation for chemical protective clothing labels be on onelabel, it is permitted to use multiple labels to meet therecommended requirements of this practice.5.6 For very small items of chemical protective

34、clothing,where it is impractical to place labeling information directly onthe product, placement of the minimum label content on thepackaging directly containing the respective chemical protec-tive clothing items is permitted.5.7 Where multiple items of chemical protective clothingare worn together

35、as an ensemble, label each separate item ofchemical protective clothing that could be worn independentlyfor the protection of the user (for example, hoods,overgarments, gloves, boots, etc.).5.7.1 Include a label listing all related chemical protectiveclothing items for those ensembles that are relia

36、nt on the use ofspecific chemical protective clothing items for the overallprotection provided by the ensemble.5.8 Appendix X1 shows an example of a simple label thatfollows the minimal information requirements from 4.1 of thispractice.F1301 1726.
