4、【正确答案】 This report summarises changes in the turnover of two companies, Carrington and Thompson in the years 1990 to 2000. In that time, Thompsons turnover increased by between 2 and 6 per cent every year Carringtons greatest rise was 5 per cent, and its turnover fell in two years. Only in one year

5、did this companys growth exceed that of Thompson. Initially the trend was towards rising turnover, the pattern for Carrington mirroring that for Thompson but with a years delay: while Thompsons increase peaked in 1992, Carringtons did so the following year. In the subsequent decline, Thompsons turno

6、ver continued to rise, although at a slower rate, whereas Carringtons fell. Both recovered in 1996 and 1997, with no change in the next year. In 1999 both companies saw reduced growth, and in the final year Carringtons recovered, while Thompsons was static. 二、 PART TWO 2 【正确答案】 The aim of this repor

7、t is to decide the consideration of building a new supermarket. Description At first Ill make a short description of the site. The location of the planed supermarket is very close to the city centre and surrounded by a lot of smaller shops. Concerning the infrastructure it is very well located becau

8、se it can be reached by nearly all means of transport. Advantages As I already mentioned, the infrastructure is very good and you have good connections of public means of transport. Another positiv aspect for building the supermarket is the competition. Our supermarket can offer much cheaper prices

9、than all the surrounding little shops so we are very competitive. Disadvantages The first thing I want to put forward is that it is very cost intensive to set up a new supermarket in this area because the land prices are very high. The second disadvantage which I want to point out is that there is n

10、ot enough space for parking and might be very expensive to build a garage under the building. Personal opinion To summarise, it is a very expensive location with less space for building a parking area but you have good chances for getting a high profit in the long term. Although there are a lot of s

11、maller shops nearby the supermarket, there is no doubt in being the most competitive! Finally I think that this will be a very profitable location for building a new supermarket. Band 4 This is an ambitious attempt at the task, showing a good range of language, although it is not error- free. It is generally well organised, but the register is not wholly appropriate.
