Scope1.1 This specification covers reinforced

3、 elliptically shapedconcrete pipe to be used for the conveyance of sewage,industrial wastes, and storm water, and for the construction ofculverts.1.2 Pipe designed for placement with the major axis hori-zontal shall be designated as “Horizontal Elliptical Pipe.” Pipedesigned for placement with the m

4、ajor axis vertical shall bedesignated as “Vertical Elliptical Pipe.”1.3 This specification is the inch-pound companion toSpecification C507M; therefore, no SI equivalents are pre-sented in the specification.NOTE 1This specification is a manufacturing and purchase specifica-tion only, and does not in

5、clude requirements for bedding, backfill, or therelationship between field load condition and the strength classification ofpipe. However, experience has shown that the successful performance ofthis product depends upon the proper selection of the class of pipe, typeof bedding and backfill, and care

6、 that the installation conforms to theconstruction specifications. The owner of the reinforced concrete pipespecified herein is cautioned that he must correlate the field requirementswith the class of pipe specified and provide inspection at the constructionsite.2. Independent of the method ofacceptance, the pipe shall be designed to meet both the 0.01-in.crack and ultimate strength requirements.5.1.1

16、 Acceptance on Basis of Plant Load-Bearing Tests,Material Tests, and Inspection of Manufactured Pipe for VisualDefects and ImperfectionsAcceptability of the pipe in alldiameters and classes produced in accordance with 7.1 or 7.2shall be determined by the results of the three-edge-bearingtests as def

17、ined in 11.3.1; by such material tests as are requiredin 6.2, 6.3, 6.5, and 6.6; by an absorption test of the concretefrom the wall of the pipe as required in 11.9; and by visualinspection of the finished pipe to determine its conformancewith the accepted design and its freedom from defects.5.1.2 Ac

18、ceptance on the Basis of Material Tests and Inspec-tion of Manufactured Pipe for Defects and ImperfectionsAcceptability of the pipe in all diameters and classes producedin accordance with 7.1 or 7.2 shall be determined by the resultsof such material tests as are required in 6.2, 6.3, 6.5, and 6.6;by

19、 crushing tests on concrete cores or cured concrete cylinders;by an absorption test of the concrete from the wall of the pipefor each mix design that is used on an order; and by inspectionof the finished pipe, including amount and placement ofreinforcement, to determine its conformance with the acce

20、pteddesign and its freedom from defects.5.1.3 When agreed upon by the owner and the manufacturer,any portion or any combination of the tests itemized in 5.1.1 or5.1.2 may form the basis of acceptance.5.2 Age for AcceptancePipe shall be considered ready foracceptance when they conform to the requirem

21、ents as indicatedby the specified tests.6. 31、ement,or a combination of portland cement and supplementarycementing materials be less than 470 lb/yd3.6.2 Cementitious Materials:6.2.1 CementCement shall conform to the requirements ofSpecification C150, or shall be portland blast-furnace slagcement, or slag modified portland cement, or portland-po

32、zzolan cement conforming to the requirements of Specifica-tion C595, except that the pozzolan constituent in the Type IPportland pozzolan cement shall be fly ash.6.2.2 Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag (GGBFS)GGBFS shall conform to the requirements of Grade 100 or 120of Specification C989.6.2.3 F

33、ly AshFly ash shall conform to the requirements ofClass F or Class C of Specification C618.6.2.4 Allowable Combinations of Cementitious MaterialsThe combination of cementitious materials used in the concreteshall be one of the following:6.2.4.1 Portland cement only,6.2.4.2 Portland blast furnace sla

The internal shape foreach size pipe shall be defined by the internal dimensionsshown in Fig. 5, subject to the permissible variatio

47、ns of 12.1.7.2 Design TablesThe wall thickness, compressivestrength of concrete, and the area of circumferential reinforce-ment shall be as prescribed in Table 1 and Table 2, subject tothe provisions of 7.3 and Sections 11 and 12.7.2.1 Footnotes to the tables herein are intended to beamplifications

48、of the tabulated requirements and are to beconsidered applicable and binding as if they were contained inthe body of the specification.7.3 Modified and Special Designs:7.3.1 If permitted by the owner, the manufacturer mayrequest approval by the owner of modified designs which differfrom the designs

49、in this Section 7; or special designs for sizesand loads beyond those shown in Table 1 and Table 2;orspecial designs for pipe sizes that do not have steel reinforce-ment areas shown in Table 1 and Table 2.7.3.2 Such modified and special designs shall be based onrational or empirical evaluations of the ultimate strength andcracking behavior of pipe and shall fully describe to the ownerany deviations from the requirements of this section.
