A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers the general physical property requirements of radiant b
3、arrier materials for use in buildingconstruction. The scope is specifically limited to requirements for radiant barrier sheet materials that consist of at least one surfacehaving a far-infrared emittance of 0.1 or less, such as metallic foils or metallic deposits mounted or unmounted on substrates.1
4、.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in eachsystem may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from thetwo systems may result in non-conformance wit

17、s.3.2.4 structural radiant barriera radiant barrier material design that during manufacture is bonded (leaving no air spacebetween the radiant barrier and the bonding substrate) to a structural building material such as plywood or oriented strand board(OSB).4. Ordering Information4.1 Prior to purcha
18、se, for sampling and acceptance procedures, Practice C390 is an option when agreed to by purchaser andmanufacturer.4.2 Specify the width and total area to be installed.4.3 Specify any special markings.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 Sheet radiant barrier materials shall consist of low emittance surf
19、ace(s) that are in combination with any substrates andadhesives required to meet the specified physical material properties.6. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance6.1 Sheet radiant barriers shall be manufactured, packaged and shipped in such a manner that, when received by the customer,they are suita
20、ble for installation in accordance with either Practice C1158C1743 or C1744.7. Physical Requirements7.1 The lowemittance materials shall conform to the physical properties as specified in Table 1 and local building codes.7.2 The following physical characteristics of sheet radiant barriers are import
21、ant:7.2.1 Surface EmittanceRadiant barriers derive effectiveness from a low-emittance surface. The surface emittance of sheetradiant barriers shall be determined in accordance with Test Method C1371.7.2.2 Water Vapor TransmissionSheet radiant barriers may or may not be vapor retarders. If the radian
22、t barrier is to serve asa vapor retarder, the permeance of the material shall not exceed one perm, as determined in accordance with Test Methods Sheetradiant barriers are manufactured as vapor retarders or vapor transmitting materials. A radiant barrier that is to serve as a vaporretarder shall not
23、have a permeance greater than one perm, as determined in accordance with Test Methods E96/E96M (ProcedureADesiccant Method).7.2.2.1If the radiant barrier is to be vapor transmitting then the permeance of the material shall exceed five perms as determinedwith Test Methods7.2.2.1 A vapor transmitting
24、radiant barrier shall have a permeance greater than five perms as determined with Test MethodsE96/E96M (Procedure ADesiccant Method).7.2.3 Surface Burning Characteristics Determine in accordance with 10.3.7.2.4 Corrosivity Sheet radiant barriers shall be tested for corrosion resistance in accordance
