20、ll include a pump head, suction pipe, drain pan assembly, discharge spout or nozzle, and hose assembly as specified herein. The complete unit shall not weight more than 55 pounds. All parts subject to wear, breakage, or distortion shall be accessible for replacement, adjustment, and repair. 3.2 Firs

21、t article. When specified (See 6.2), the contractor shall furnish sample unit (s) for first article inspection and approval (see 4.3 and 6.4), 3.3 Material. Material shall be as specified herein. Material not definitely specified shall be of the quality necessary to produce a pump to meet the requir

22、ements specified herein (see 6.6). Dissimilar metals as defined in MIL-STD-889 shall not be used in intimate contact with each other unless the metals are protected against galvanic corrosion. 3.4 Interchangeability. The dispensing pump shall be complete, so that when installed in a barrel, drum, or tank it can be used for the purpose intended. It shall be constructed to withstand the strains, jars, vibration, and other conditions incident

25、 to shippiq, storage, installation, and service. 3.5.1 Threads. All threaded parts shall conform to the applicable requirements of FED. STD. H28. 3.5.2 Fastening devices. All screws, pins, bolts, and similar parts, sha installed with means for preventing loss of tightness. All such parts, when subje

26、ct to removal or adjustment, shall not be swaged, peened, staked, or otherwise permanently deformed. be 3.6 Components. 3.6.1 Pump. The pump shall be of the type as specified (see 1.2. i), self-priming, and continuous flow. double acting. The intake and outlet openings shall provide 3/4- or 1-inch N

27、PT internal threads to accommodate the suction pipe and discharge spout or the discharge hose assembly. The pump shall be equipped with gaskets and packing and shall not leak when tested as specified in 4.5.2.4. Parts which are in contact with the liquid being pumped shall not be adversely affected

28、by continued soaking in petroleum products. Diaphragm and piston type pumps shall be 3.6 .? Suction assembly. 3.6.2.1 Suction i e. The suction pipe shall be approximately 21 inches long in the fully retracted position and approximatel

30、y 40 inches long in the fully extended position. The pump end connection for the suction pipe shall be 3/4- or 1-inch NPT external thread as designated by the suction pipe size. The suction pipe end that contacts the bottom of the fuel containers shall be designed to allow full flow with a minimum o

31、f resistance. 3.6.2.2 Seal. The material for the seal used on the telescoping suction pipe shall be sumle for use with petroleum fuels and shall be suitable for use at temperatures between -25oF and +llOF. The suction pipe shall show no evidence of leaking when tested as specified in 4.5.2.3. A remo

32、vable 80-mesh metal screen shall be installed in the inlet port wire or wire cloth with an effective flow area of at least two times the inlet port area. 3.6.2.3 Screen. pump. When specified (see 6.2), the dispensing pump shall be equipped with a discharge spout and drain pan assembly, in lieu of a hose, nozzle assembly, and quick-disconnect coupling (see 3.6.3 and 3.6.4) , 3.6.5.1 Dischar e s out. The spout shall be threaded at both ends with NPT th

The strainer shall have a nominal thickness of 0.022 inch having not less than 100 holes per square inch of 1/16-inch nominal diameter or the strainer shall be 60 by 60 wire mesh with 0.007-inch nominal diameter wire. 41、d with a threaded portion suitable for installation in a 2-inch NPT bung opening. 3.6.6 Handcrank or hand lever. The handcrank or hand lever shall be of malleable iron, cast iron, or steel with a wooden or plastic handgrip suitable for use with arctic mittens. The handgrip on the handcrank or hand l
