SCOPE 1,l This specification covers the parts for, loading assembling and packing for one type of firing device de- signated as Firing Device, Pressure Release Type, M5 and M5 Inert Assembly. 82. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 MaterLals. - Materials and parts shall be in accord- ance with applicable drawings and specifications. 3.2 Assemblies. - The assemblies shall comply with all requirements specified on Drawing (dwg. ) 9249244 and with all requirements specified in appli

8、cable specifications. Spring embrittlement. - Springs manufactured for use in this assembly shall be,free from embrittlement as evidenced by not fracturing when extendedto the point of minimum permanent distortion. 3.3 3.4 Non-fwictioninq. - The firing device shall not func- tion when a load of 5 po

9、unds (lbs), maximum (max,) is applied to the release plate. 3.5 Underwater functioning. - The firing device shall function underwater. 10、50475A 13 777770b 0327708 7 I MIL-F-50495A (PA) s3.6 Workmanship. - All parts shall be fabricated and loaded in a thorough, workmanlike manner, and all manufacturing processing and assembly operations shall be correctly performed. The parts shall be clean and free of burrs, sharp edges, un- blended

11、radii, surface defects, chips, dirt, grease and oil (except where specifically required), corrosion products and other foreign matter. The cleaning method used shall not be injurious to any part, nor shall the parts be contaminated by the cleaning agent. Exterior surface coatings shall be con- tinuo

12、us except for a few lightscratches not exposing base material. All required markings shall be neat and sharply defined . 3.7 First Article Inspection. - The specification contains technical provisions for first article inspection. for the submission of first article samples by the contractor shall b

13、e as specified in the contract. Requirements 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS *4.1 Responsibility for inspection and standard quality assurance pYovisons. - Unless otherwise specified herein or in the contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 shall apply, and are hereby made a part of this detail speci

14、fication. *4.2 Classification of inspection, - The following types of inspection shall be conducted on this item. a. First article inspection b . Quality conformance inspection *4*3 First article inspection 4.3.1 Submission. - The Contractor shall submit a first article sample as designated by the C

15、ontracting Officer. The first article sample shall consist of 125 complete assemblies and thirty-two (32) complete sets of parts and sub-assemblies ($.e., 32 each of every component and sub-assembly). article shall be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of 4.3.2 and 4.3.3. If one or more springs fail to comply wit

28、h the speci- fied requirement, the heat treatment lot represented by the sample springs shall be rejected. The test shall be performed as specified in 4.5.1, using test equipment in accordance with 4.4.4. 4.4.3.2 Torque test of firing pin spring (See dwg. 9249237). Major Defect B, - A sample of 30 s

29、prings shall be selected from each lot of springs to determine the torque at the specified angular displacement. If one or more springs fail to comply with the applicable torque requirement, the lot shall be re- jected. The test shall be as specified in 4.5.2, using test equipment in accordance with

30、 4.4.4. 4.4.3.3 Non-functioning (see 3.4) 4.4.3.3.1 Critical Defect (Not applicable to inert item). - This test shall be conducted 100 percent. Any firing device that fails to comply with the specified requirementsshall be classed defective and removed from the lot. The test shall be performed as sp

31、ecified in 4.5.3, using test equipment in accord- ance with 4.4.4. 4.4.3.3.2 Major Defect A, (Applicable to inert item). - A single sampling plan shall be used for this test in accordance with MIL-STD-15, using Code Letter J and an AQL-of 0.65 percent. The test shall be performed as specified in 4.5

32、.3, using test equipment in accordance with 4.4.4. 4.4.3.4 Underwater functioning test (see 3.5), Major Defect A,. - A single sampling plan shall be used for this test in accordance with MIL-STD-105, using Code Letter J and AQL of 0.65 percent. The test shall be performed as specified in 4.5.4 using

33、 test equipment in -accordance with 4.4.4. 4.4.3.5 Check test for possible deterioration of primers Major Defect. - If the. total elapsed time between the original acceptance of any primer lot and-the assembly of that lot-into the firing devices exceeds two years, or if the primers have been subject

This test shall be performed by the con- 4.4.3.6 Heat Seal test of sealed bag (see dwg. 8799108). - Major A defect. - Sampling,. acceptance criteria and test pro- cedures for this test shall be as specified in m-p-116. *4.4,4 Inspection Equipment. - The inspection equipment required to

38、 perform the examinations and tests prescribed herein IS -described in the “Paragraph Reference/Inspection Method“ column ,in the tables starting with paragraph 4.4.2.1, and the test method paragraphs (see 4.5). The contractor shall submit for approval, inspection equipment designs in accordance wit

39、h the terms of the contract. See Section 6 of MIL-A-48078, and section 6.2 herein. “4.5 Test Methods and Procedures 4.5;,1 Spring Embrittlement. - The spring shall be pulled to the minimum point of permanent distortion by an approved method. (Springs so tested shall be scrapped). be determined at th

Check Test for Possible Deterioration. - The following test is designed to prevent primers that have deterjorated from being assembled into major ammunition items. The test shall be performed on primers from each lot which have been stored under normal co

45、nditions for more than two years or under adverse conditions for any period of time. If the specification for the ammunition item into which the primers are assembled does not require that the check test be performed, the Contracting Officer should insert in the contract a provision for the per- for

46、mance of the check test. The Contracting Officer will arrange for the contractor to be reimbursed for expense incurred in his performance of the check test for possible deterioration. -Primer assemblies shall be selected from each lot for this test. 6.3 Distribution of Ammunition Data Cards. - Distr

47、ibution 6.4 6.5 The margins of this specification are marked with an asterisk to indicate where changes (additions, modifications, corrections, deletions) from the previous issue were made.
