SCOPE 1,l Scope,- This specification covers one type of signal flag set desig

2、nated as the M-113 Flag Set, MC-44 flags (each flag to have an MC-43 flagstaff) and one CS-16 case. 1,2 Classification.- The flag set shall consist of the following components : The flag set shall consist of two. 10、de sample. - Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2) a guide sample of the finisher3 item will be furnished for a guide to construction onlz. Variations from this specifkcation may appear in the sample, in which case the specification shall govern. 3.2 Standard sample. - Unless otherwise specified, ( s

11、ee 6.2) , standard samples of the cotton bunting, cotton tapes, cotton duGk, webbing and thread shall be furnished and shall be used for matching color and eolorfastness onig. before production is commenced a sample of the finished flag set or component as applicable, shall be submitted or made avai

12、lable to the contracting officer or his authorized representative for inspection and tests as specified in 4.2. The approval of the preproduction sample authorizes the commencement of production but does not relieve the contractor of responsibility for compliance with the provisions of this specific

13、ation. same facilities to be used for the manufacture of the production items. 3.3 Preproduction sample. - Unless otherwise specified (see 6,2) , The preproduction sample shall be manufactured in the 3.4 Materials, - Materials shall conform to the referenced spec i- fications and the requirements sp

14、ecified herein. 3.4*1 Cloth, cotton bunting.- The cotton bunting shall conform to ccc-c-439. - 3.4.1.1 Color and treatment.- The cotton bunting for the upper portion of the flag shall be Old Glow Red to match Cable No. 70180 and the cotton bunting-for the lower portion of the flag shall be bleached

15、white conforming to Cable No. 70001. Standard Color Card of America 9th Edition (see 2.2) . shall be treated in accordance with class B of CCG-D-9SO using inhTbitor (a) except the requirement for hydrostatic resistance shall not applg. When tested as specified in 4.4.1, the finished fabric shall sho

When no standard sample is available the finished fabric shall show good fastness to light and bleaching. 3.4.2 Tapes, cotton.-

17、3.4.2.1 Fastening tapes.- The tapes used for fastening the flag shall be 1/2 inch wide and shall conform to type III, class 3 of DDB-T-86. The length of the tapes shall be as specified on drawing $1-336. 3.4.2.1.1 Color and treatment.- The fastening tape shal be dyed Old Glory red to match Cable No.

18、 (OlBO The dyed tape shall be treated in accordance with class B of CCC-D-gSO using inhibitor (a) except the re- quirement for hgdrostatic resistance shall not apply. When tested as specified in 4.4.1, the finished tape shall show fastness to light and bleaching equal to or better than the standard

When no standard is available, the tapes shall show good fastness to light and bleaching. 3.4.2.2 Binding and tie tapes.- The binding tapes for the case shall be 3/4 inch wide and the tie tapes used with the case shall be 1/2 inch wide. shall be as specflied on drawing 5-1-332. 20、all conforni-to DDD-T-86 and the lengths of the tapes 3.4.2.2.1 Colos and treatment The binding tape and the tie tape shall be dyed to match shade Olive Drab #7 (see 6.3) and shall be water- repellent and mildew-resistant treated in accordance with MIL-W-530. When tested as specified in 4.4.1 the fi

21、nished tape shall show fastness to light and bleaching equal to or better than the standard sample. When no standard is mailable the tapes shall show good fastness to light and bleaching. The exposed ends of the tie tapes shall be dipped in paraffin having a melting point of i40 degrees F for a dist

22、ance of 1/2 inch from the ends. 3.4.3 Cloth, cotton duck.- Before finishing, bhe cotton duck used for the case shall conform to kype III of CCC-C-419, 12.29 ounces per square yard. 3.4.3.1 Color and treatment.- The cotton duck shall be dyed to match shade Olive Drab #7 and shall be treated in accord

25、- Type III, class b 3.4.4.1 Color and treatment.- The webbing shall be dyed to match shade Olive Drab #7 and shall be- water-repellent and mildew-resistant treated conforming to class 4 of MIL-W-s30. 28、ompound,- The thread lubricating cmpouild shall be a light, sulfur free, white mineral compound with a specific gravity of 0.830 to 0.860. 3.4.6 Grommets.- The metal grmets shall conform to type I, class 3 of MIL-0-f- 3.4.7 Buckle.- Buckles shall conform to type II, class 1, she 5/8 inch and size 1

29、Inch of MLL-B-543 and shall have a black chemical f infsh in accordance with MIL-F-495. 3.4.8 Rivets.- Rivets shall conform to type XI, class 1, grade F, 9/16 inch in diameter by 5/16 inch long with a type I cap of FT-R-556 and shall hare a black chemical finish in accordance with MIL-F-495. 3.4.9 E

33、le, and the requirements specified herein. 3.5.1 Stitching.- All stitching shall be in accordance with Fed. Std, No, 751 using thread specified in 3.4.5. All stitching shall be accomplished with stitch type 301 with 10 to 12 stitches per inch for the flag and 8 to 10 stitches per inch for the case.
